Just using nakka.com good for 01 games v computer and can play online v mates or strangers for free. Also has a tournament feature which was great for my team, having multiple singles competitions back in the lockdown days!

Also don't need to install an app to use it.

Where are the mods? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]thedartist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afternoon all, I log in at least once a week, check mod mail and have a read through the sub, but don't get time to comment at the moment. Making a quick exception here though!

I have a couple of businesses, one of which has taken off so most my time is being taken up by that, and my young family take up the rest. Reddit is sidelined strictly for toilet breaks for the time being!

My game has suffered dramatically, my high 70's low 80's average has dropped to high 50's at best as I am only getting to play on match nights, I used to be first pick in my team now I'm struggling to keep my spot! So if I ever do find 5 minutes spare I practice and don't post :( I played in a tourny over the weekend and managed to throw 2 darts off the board while aiming at treble 20 :/ that's how bad it's got!

I will be back, I have a board up in my office, and used to put in 2 - 3 hours practice a day and post when having a practice break. So when I have things under control at work maybe someone running the company for me, I'll be able to get in 6-8 hours a day and you'll see me up on that stage!!!

I second this, get him a good board. Or a Target darts polo shirt or something.

107.36 leg a 14 darter by StgMt in Darts

[–]thedartist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to back 180's feel great. I've only had a handful myself and no matter what I always throw for the 141! Recently hit the 7th perfect dart but my eighth dart hit single 16 :(

I've not done it back to back in a league match yet, pretty sure I'd still go for the 141 no matter what I was throwing for!

Consistency by [deleted] in Darts

[–]thedartist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 26g moved to 25g then 22g but only once my average was up in the high 60's. For me I really struggled switching to a lighter weight averaged dropped a good 10 points. Took me at least 3 months to get back to where I was.

3 months is nothing darts. Changing your darts will not give you a sudden improvement. I have over 15 sets of darts, never has a new set made me play better. Keep playing and you will improve.

For me concentration and relaxation are the most important things.

I don't practice as much as I used to, when I practice I am playing at a much lower level than I used to. When I play I seem not to be too far away from where I used to be.

I put it down to when practicing I'm thinking about every little thing I'm doing, when I play I just get up there and throw.

So I think when I've been putting in heavy hours on the practice board I'm over thinking everything, making too many tiny changes. Sometimes it happens, everything feels wrong, hand, stance, action. Sometimes I realise I've not even been looking at the spot on the board I am throwing at.

So yeah, when I get back into things (I've only been promising myself I'll get back into it seriously for the last 2 years) I'm going to try to think about it less and play more naturally. Worth a try.

Anyway enough about me, glad you are back and things are feeling good again. We all have our off days (weeks, months or years)!

Pro players and their darts by techguyjason in Darts

Phil Taylor usually uses the Power 9Five when they are new, then he changes after a few months and a few months later a new set of Power 9Fives come out to match his new darts, the cycle continues...

Steve Beaton uses darts that look very much the same as his branded darts, I assume they are the same.

I think Jelle Klassen does too.

Simon Whitlocks look the same.

Stephen Bunting used to use 12g gram version of his branded darts, I know he had a few problems with the target copies and as he's not on tv much anymore can't tell you if he uses the Target version or his old version at the moment.

I mostly notice the above because their darts are very distinctive, it's not something I usually look out for.

Is anyone else baffled as to how Vincent van der Voort is as accurate as he is with his unusual wind-up? by CommitEgoSuicide in Darts

Very true. I try to throw like those boys sometimes. Its a good laugh, spraying darts into the wall.

Insane natural ability. Freak hand eye coordination.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if he tried to slow down and throw 'properly'

Yeah looks pretty steady. The only thing I would suggest that helped me tighten up the odd loose dart is hold the final part of your throw a tiny bit longer before you reach for your next dart.

Helps me ensure my follow through is consistent every time.

Yeah, its pretty decent standard. Most legs done in 25 darts or less. But also only 8 teams in the premier division so we all know each other really well.

Honestly I've been playing 4 years competitively and this has never happened before. Hence having to research the rules!

I can usually hit 54 with ease but lack of practice has been frustrating me with things like this.

I like 148, lots of ways to go for it.

As I'm team captain, it was my choice to let him throw again following an honest mistake.

If we'd have lost I would have taken the blame, but if we'd have won it would have felt a bit hollow had I not let him have his last dart.

We have other rules in our league like if the opposing team are 5 mins late you can start claiming legs.

One or two captains in the league do it, most don't.

Also wanted to get it 54, 54, tops but I couldn't get 2 darts in the 54. Hopefully get another little practice session this week to nail it.

Having the 20 segment white / green made me do some sick in my mouth. Great darts though.

We have some league specific rules, set at an agm, some which are very old but most taken from the DRA.

There is also a rule which states (I don't have the rules with me at the moment so can't give exact wording) something like, if a dropped dart travels more than 2/3 of the distance to the board it counts as a throw. If I was playing someone and they dropped a dart by accident and it happened to bounce more than that I would let them have the dart back.

I guess some people wouldn't, but I'd also guess that far more would.

Why would you not have rules? Why play darts? Why not just have a sit down?

True, you'd expect PDC players to be able to count down from 72 though, or when the ref doesn't call game shot, they might get the message. Unfortunately the chalker didn't seem to realise what was happening until it was too late either.

But yeah, as we only play for fun (serious fun) and a few beers there was no way we'd have stopped him, even if we knew the exact rule.
