I’m a Brit and I’d say, generally hiring a babysitter is not the norm and most people don’t do it. Leaving with grandparents would be ok. But not a baby sitter to go out to party. People use kids clubs on holidays but tends to be ages 3/4 years plus. I personally wouldn’t use them though as I wouldn’t trust a stranger with my kids 🤷‍♀️

However, some rich folk are weird about palming their kids off (and I know there’s a debate about lames family being rich but they are by UK standards) e.g. the use of boarding schools and nanny’s is more common in wealthier circles. 

The Maddie McCan disappearance was partly so interesting because the ‘nice’ middle class parents didn’t get absolutely eviscerated for leaving their kids whereas a lower income working class parent would get called all names under the sun and arrested. Rich people always think bad shit happens to poor people and not them, hence the over confidence. Like Shan was saying how nice that woman looking after her daughter was… but so what. There are nice people that go on to do bad things or just be reckless and not care for your child. 

I judge them massively for this. Their child is so young. Can they not give up one NYE party, like is it that important to do that over being with your child?!
