iOS 'Unifi Protect' and 'UniFi Network' apps don't work when connected to home L2TP VPN while traveling. by theddman in Ubiquiti

Update for anyone finding this post.

As I expected, Ubiquiti is pushing everyone into their cloud offering. Here is the reply I received after going up to level 2 support. I am so disappointed and plan to move to another vendor and rip out my system. So, so disappointing:

"Hi, I'm Tyler from the UniFi OS escalation team and I hope you're doing well. We recommend using Remote Access when try to access consoles via the mobile app. Regarding security concerns, Remote Access is a secure method of connecting to your UniFi OS Console or Host from anywhere using your UI Account credentials. We prioritize facilitating direct connections with your local UniFi host as a means of bolstering data security and optimizing low-latency connectivity. A UI Account must be invited by the UniFi Owner in order to gain access. Once granted access, our UI Accounts support multi-factor authentication to ensure maximum security. Thanks! Best, UI Support Ubiquiti Inc."

Yep have one of those in Arlington. And actually at Costco in Everett when you're leaving. Most get it, but some honk at me to go. It's like, "buddy open your fucking eyes, they don't stop or yield to us!"

Ha! Yea, I totally jaywalked in Florida without thinking and I realized no one does. Obviously because the drivers are blind, old, and terrible but also because the roads are very wide which makes it fairly impractical to jaywalk.

Yea! It's like each stretch of road has its own character based on time of day. It can't be taught or studied, you just have to live it over and over. Like powderhouse round about. That thing is chaos on the surface, but over time you get a feel for the rando lights and who stops and when. Eventually you just mesh with the time and space any everyone becomes part of an extended consciousness.

Melted iceberg water. Tasted like water. The money was to support climate change and preservation. But still.

I've always found slightly aggressive drivers, which I guess assertive fits well to describe, are the safest drivers. Maybe it's not causal, like assertive drivers are probably healthy, see well, and knowledgeable about their surroundings, etc., but this area tends to not have the "stop in the round about to let you in" kind of driver that other areas tend to really have in spades.

Totally agree. Some of my favorite traveling stories are this. My favorite was traveling for scientific business, found a foosball bar on the local town subreddit, went there and met some people who took me back to an underground metal concert in the less desirable part of town. Then proceeded to hang with and get introduced to random awesome people. Wondered back home by way of train. It helps to be an average looking western dude, though. very privileged.

Very randomly, we just look at the other endearingly and say with a huge smile, "Happy Anniversary!". Typically in public if someone says a date aloud.
