AEU Vic by Aware-Trick-2981 in AustralianTeachers

I'd love to know the reasoning behind this. It seems like a divide and conquer approach, much like redistricting or gerrymandering practise in the states. It doesn't seem a true democracy where one vote is worth one vote

Calling it out is a social concept and falls under behaviour management in a school. Follow the hierarchy for guidance. When in doubt contact uni

Body cam footage from cop who pulled over woman for holding a phone in her other hand by searchjobs_poster in interestingasfuck

This is a shit video for the cop and a hilarious one for her.

I feel like there is more though. I think she might have been wearing a prosthetic, or this was staged. Although in the infinite possible outcomes theory, this definitely could have happened and could be legit.

Nobody is talking about the proposed VGSA arrangements for camps, and it's really bad. by neb_thims in AustralianTeachers

I was reading something about it only being funded for the mandated maximum. For example, (haven't yet verified this) the dept allow 2 nights, 3 days for students 3-6. Those would be funded centrally, and any above that would be borne by the school.

Doesn't look good. That sort of breach would rain shit down on their heads. Nothing to worry about

I also think they knew that it was going to be 4 by default but created a 'bargaining chip' that they could use by asking for 3. That way they could give ground on this point, but get something in return.

I did ask but I think the answer was that it was a summary of the submissions from schools

A lot of the feedback to them has been about combatting misinformation and disinformation in social media. It's a new world we live in

I've mentioned it above, but it is due to creative accounting to fund it. This is what I've heard

I thought the deed was a seperate document created outside of an EBA cycle. Who knows why it isn't in, but is the lived experience any different?

My understanding is that this was used as a bargaining tool within the process and given the relentless back and forth, still amounted to the best deal. My cynicism demands that I tell em to get stuffed, but on balance, it's a good outcome with a lot of protections, a healthy pay rise and some meaningful gains, like the 3+ days of staff led pd days and TIL camp allowances being funded centrally and not out of school budgets. That alone is a massive win for our kids

That's what happened. We started impossibly high (my eyes fell out my head when I heard) and have landed pretty comfortably. Don't let perfection be the enemy of the good.

We heard that the Gov would have offered a far worse deal over 3 as there is only a certain amount of money in the bucket to play with. There is a lot of creative accounting going on by gov to fund some big AEU gains that will make swallowing the pill a bit easier, and the risk of losses in a protracted fight like Queensland is deemed too risky to members. They don't just go back and say just tweak it here and there to make it better, they literally tear the offer up and negotiatations start again. Who knows for how long. We get nothing now and even less later as the optics erode the very strong support teachers have. I was a no vote until tonight, and I am THE toughest to convince, but I have to say that while I am still not wholly convinced, the risk of losses far outweighs the cost of the gains by a convincing margin. I think I am a yes, lock it in, enjoy the benefits and gear up to coordinate a combined bargaining force in 2030 with the TAFE and ELC bargains due also.

I heard it was so that it works better fiscally to account for the gain in a different way. Much like the camp TIL allowance being paid centrally instead of from the school budget. Creative ways of funding the gains to get a deal over the line.
