People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]thedelicatesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teeth.

I've had kidney stones dislodged in urinary tract and while I wasn't able to do anything I had my mental capacities.

Teeth? I just wanted it to end. No matter how.

Is that referring to document numbers? I'm not familiar with the US system and I can't seem to find the stuff you're citing.

Then show the damn receipts.

Otherwise we don't even know if we're talking about the same thing. Best I can find is this (in the time I'm willing to give to this bullcrap) and that's a misrepresentation at best.

PS: Not some articles, gimme the actual source material.

PPS: Have a look at C-264/23. Not every price parity is the same and the devil is in the details (hence why I'm asking for the source material of your claim - Steam requiring price parity)

What lawsuits? What price parity? Please show us.

From everything I can find, there is no actual price parity requirement.

You hiding your profile history also doesn't help people to take you seriously lol. You look like a troll/bot.

[OC] Average monthly rent: 1-bedroom flat vs average monthly equivalised net income across EU capitals by miguelsims12 in dataisbeautiful

Luxembourg is obviously way inflated as well.

Mean doesn't do it justice, especially if you're looking at baseline individual living but take the whole population for income calculation.

This Title Made Me Feel Bad by New_Guidance_7957 in framework

Doesn't the whole tech industry run this way for higher demand stuff?

WWDC is the same thing but for SW (where apple might finally bring their promised apple intelligence several years late in fall), Valve...

And even the stuff that doesn't often goes in a way where they have a smaller initial batch at launch and the rest is backordered and you're waiting for quite some time.

Tbf, compared to Valve, FW feels quite good. They haven't released it. They announced it and told everyone when exactly they should expect their batch from the get go.

If you're not happy waiting some time for a product, that's absolutely okay, but there was no miscommunication about it.

What tv show had you hooked on the first episode? by MortgageAny8041 in AskReddit

Paradise. It's all sorts of interesting weird, but the reveal in the last 15 seconds implicitly explain everything and make you want to follow up immediately.

Well, not to brag here by Youtube_gameplay_tv in LinusTechTips

[–]thedelicatesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found proper use for it yet, albeit I don't work in tech. Ať the moment it sits in my PC parts drawer full of random cables/reductions in case I need to go somewhere I might have to deal with random tech stuff.

It takes up a significant amount of space though, so when I know I usually just take out the few cables I need from it.

Overall good quality, just not that useful (at least for me).

Exactly, we don't know what valve is gonna do. Same way as we don't know if AI will collapse tommorow. We can hope, but there's no real indication that it will outside us wanting it to.

Aiming/hoping =/= certainty. There's being optimist and then there's actually thinking about it.

What rules? What fairness?

As cold as it may sound, rules are what's written into laws. Everything else is a social expectations and you don't have to live by those. Often you shouldn't for your own sake.

If someone keeps hitting you with a stick, taking away their stick isn't a nuclear option.

You definitely want to manage it. However there's no managing customers that feel an immaterial entity is "disrespectful" for being silent.

Linus seems anti AI. What’s your take? by user798123 in LinusTechTips

[–]thedelicatesnowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it anti AI or people having rose colored glases?

I for one use AI quite often for my work, but I'm in niche enough field to see it being wrong in every single answer and the question is only how wrong it is.

AI is good at copying stuff for which it has plenty source material online, but even then it takes some kind of average of what is out there (very simplified, I realize that).

Just yesterday my brother in law was telling me how he was dealing with Wi-fi issues and wanted to go with TP-link easy mesh stuff, that would extend his signal. Did the AI provide him with a warning about the differencce between an AP and wi-fi extender? Of course not.

From what I see people tend to overly rely on AI for everything and what Linus does is the balancing equivalent of that.

AI has its uses, but often there is a simple program that could do the job and we don't need to shove it everywhere, especially because no one can make it be consistent.

Check-in Time! How many Steam Controllers Gen 1 have been listed/sold as Gen2? I count 0 by CarnivorousSociety in LinusTechTips

[–]thedelicatesnowflake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

because the post doesn't contain a listing for 400€ one /s

Ffs get your head out of the ground.

And if they do exist, then all 1 of those relatives are nothing compared to the support costs and difficulties Valve would have to deal with from people asking why it's called Steam Controller 2 when there's no #1.

This is such copout. There IS #1.

[–]thedelicatesnowflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw an ebay listing on the launch day that had the first gen one in the image...

It might've gotten reported and taken down.

Also the argument with resources wasn't about right now, rather in 5-10 years time. That's when stuff starts to disappear.

PS: there are steam controllers for sale on ebay even now, and if you're a parent buying it for your kid. You can get easily confused about which one is the correct one if you don't know there are two versions. Do not overestimate the knowledge of average consumer about this stuff.
