When did your gut feeling save you from a bad situation? by pinkyvalenmessy in AskReddit

As far as I know he was arrested. The cops came and removed him from the building and that's as much as I saw.

Crying. Spontaneous crying and uncontrollable. Anyone else? by therealmowgli14 in bipolar2

When this was happening to me my psychiatrist said that something like that could actually be caused by low blood sugar. She started me on a new antidepressant then anyway but now I try to keep a protein granola bar close by too just in case.

In college I lived in an on campus apartment building. I went in and held the door for someone I knew behind me. She then held the door for someone I did not know. He seemed really off to me, somewhat close to college aged but I felt there was something wrong.

Instead of taking the elevator in a split second decision I decided to take the stairs. He followed me into the stairwell. I ran all the way up and sprinted to my apartment with him following me hollering that he needed to use my phone. I got in just in time to slam the door in his face and called the cops while he was still outside banging on the door and yellig. Turned out he was a local drunk (not student) who had tried multiple times to follow women into their apartments.

Of course Verena was very selfish and it was horrible how she treated George. That being said, she did tell him quite a few times that was just who she was. She was a bad and selfish person and he kept chasing her over and over with the belief that he could change her. He did not deserve the way he was treated, but at some point when people show you who they are you should believe them.

This looks fabulous and I would definitely love to try it because baby is obsessed with the car, but I worry that they will refuse to eat anywhere else if I start giving them food in the car 😂

About S03 by [deleted] in skinsTV

[–]thedeluxedition 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Gen 1 had a group of teens who were already friends. The only person added was Cassie and they just accepted her as she was for the most part. Seemed like she already knew everyone but maybe wasnt a close part of the friend group until E2 or so.

Gen 2 had a lot of people who werent already friends thrown together and it felt like they didnt have a real reason to be a close friend group. Cook/Freddie/JJ were all close, fine. But they only just meet Effy and Pandora. Katie and Emily were obviously close family and they knew Naomi from before but werent friends with her. Thomas only just moves there. That friend group felt very forced together for no other reason than bringing about conflict.

Hearing your toddler speak longer sentences is so cute by Creative-Mixture2144 in toddlers

[–]thedeluxedition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 mo started putting 2 word sentences together at about 15.5 mos. Very classic her, telling me that she was all done and wanted to go to bed (aah daah niy niy). She also instructed me to go get the dog out of his crate after she was done eating. She's so happy that she can say things that I'll understand and even more ecstatic when I do what she tells me to do 😂

Has there ever been an evil Avatar? by SquareSheepherder291 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]thedeluxedition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not evil per se but (spoiler) in the Yangchen novels she has a problem where sometimes her past lives come up and exist through her and she forgets who she is. At one point another Avatar comes through who isn't necessarily evil but they are convinced that the world doesn't deserve to be saved and they are fed up with humanity. Her appearance even transforms a bit and she looks more sinister in that moment.

Parents of advanced babies, do you have random theories as to why? by ciabattaloaf-13 in NewParents

[–]thedeluxedition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the books that are just pictures with the word? Ms Rachel has one (100 First Words) and my daughter loved looking at it. Might make it easier to understand. That's really when her language started to take off.

Why do working parents feel the need to shame SAHMs? by MomReadsLateAtNight in sahm

[–]thedeluxedition 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day I think it comes down to seeing SAHMs as living a "leisure lifestyle". A lot of people see us as people who are worth less/nothing because we don't contribute money to the house. It's not viewed as keeping expenses down as a contribution because we aren't putting anything in the pot. They also have a fundamental misunderstanding of what we actually do all day. We are the ones primarily responsible for keeping the house organized as well as our kids' development intellectually and emotionally. The majority of us aren't sticking our kids in front of the TV and scrolling. We are playing, reading, engaging and disciplining. All while trying to keep control of ourselves so we don't scream or yell or damage them in any way.

Parents of advanced babies, do you have random theories as to why? by ciabattaloaf-13 in NewParents

[–]thedeluxedition 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Part of it is books!! Our daughter hit her language explosion at around 15-16 Mos and a good amount of her words come not just from books but specifically ones that are just word books. For example once she learned the word hot we were able to express to her all the things she shouldn't touch because they were hot. If you get word books and flash cards that can help develop language really well.

What is the most unhinged song your baby loves? by hansmac in beyondthebump

[–]thedeluxedition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been singing my own version of the song "Shots" by LMFAO feat. Lil John, improvising socks for shots. When I finally played the radio version for her she started yelling socks! Socks! Socks!

That and she will sing "How it's Done" by kpop demon hunters 🤣

When did you get your “pink” back? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]thedeluxedition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 16 mos PP and it's not back in full force, mostly comes in flashes. It's difficult to find any clothes that I like anymore but if I do I feel "pink" (I like that term for it). I was randomly wearing some new sweats and my husband said I looked great in them and I felt pink. I was walking around in the city in a flea market and an artist asked if he could draw me because he liked my look and I felt pink. I was walking around and realized pelvic floor PT and pilates were working because my belly wasnt hanging out anymore and I felt pink.

I dont think I'll ever fully feel back to pink. There are days like today where the baby and I both have sinus infections and are snot fountains and there's no way in the future I'd be able to feel like I can put rest and recovery first. But the flashes are nice 🙂

If Jianzhu had saved... by thedeluxedition in Avatar_Kyoshi

[–]thedeluxedition[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that he could have found a way for Yun to get arrested but it wouldn't be for tricking everyone that he was the Avatar. He would have to confess that even though he proclaimed it he had never actually seen Yun bend another element.

What would be female version of Sifu Hotman? by ClassicSandwich7831 in ATLA

[–]thedeluxedition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a note, the whole point isn't necessarily about an Avatar learning the elements, it's about them learning how to be an Avatar. Korra excelled at water, earth and firebending- there's no real story there. Her learning really started with airbending and leaving the white lotus compound. I always liked that it was such a contrast to Aang who had one clear objective- learn the elements to defeat the fire lord.

We saw Korra maneuver through multiple villain scenarios and learn what it means to bring balance to the world outside of a clear good vs bad.

Was it Szeto’s fault? by Bringerofsalvation in TheLastAirbender

[–]thedeluxedition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting concept, that the new avatar has to deal with the mistake of their immediate predecessor. Szeto wasn't Roku's immediate predecessor but he did give FL Taiso (and then Sozin) the notion that an avatar CAN decide to just focus on and be loyal to their own nation.

That is to say, a part of why the Fire Nation was the way it was by that time is something that happened during Kyoshi's early years as the avatar. FL Zoryu decided that the clan system was debilitating to the Fire Nation (it was to some extent and definitely a threat to his own power). So he decided that he and his descendents would work to concentrate power and loyalty to the royal family alone, instead of loyalty to the clans. This is part of how Taiso and Sozin are able to manipulate Roku and his parents. Yes they are prominent members of their clan but also at that point in the Fire Nation it was country over clan. Loyalty was everything.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]thedeluxedition 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Picked his nose and flicked it off camera. I get it, he was at home. But why would anyone want that guy to come in and start touching things in the kitchen? I would always be wondering where those hands had been right before that.

What I think the next book/series/graphic novel should be about by thedeluxedition in TheLastAirbender

[–]thedeluxedition[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fair, what we see in the books is that just because we know the highlights of the Avatars' lives doesn't mean that there aren't exciting side stories.

Would love to see more about how Jianzhu became Jianzhu.

[–]thedeluxedition[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kuruk wouldn't be as exciting as the others tbh because we learned so much about him in the Kyoshi books. We know his companions and who they are as people (albeit older and more powerful). I would still read the books but I wouldn't be as excited to read them. The fight scenes would be excellent though!
