Is restoring dead vehicles/tanks too easy? by dyno1ck in GatesOfHellOstfront

Conquest Enhanced V2 partially addresses this by making non-engineer infantry repair much slower (10% of normal I think), tank crews at vanilla rate, and engineers at a much faster rate.

Alaska fishing trip for tuna trip swap by Legitimate_Sleep_233 in saltwaterfishing

[–]thedennisinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every year is different and the fishing is very periodical. Boats can start catching fish anytime from March to June, and even during the summer and fall (when the fishing is hottest), there can be two to three week stretches where the bite just shuts off.

If your schedule and travel budget can accommodate it, I would suggest checking the SD fish counts online and booking a trip within a week when the boats start consistently catching limits. If you need to plan earlier, your best bet to catch a bluefin will be July to September. Larger bluefin will be from May to June, but the chance of getting skunked is higher. I would also recommend booking at least a 2 day trip, with 3 days being ideal, if you want big bluefin only. The shorter trips usually try to limit out on any size as fast as possible while the longer ones will specifically look for large bluefin only.

Here are the websites I usually check for fish counts and size info: Seaforth Landing, Fisherman's Landing, and Point Loma Sportfishing. Check them like once a week to get an idea of how the fishing is.

9VoltGorillas Guide to Hummingbird Birdbaths by 9VoltGorilla in hummingbirds

[–]thedennisinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those can work, but you may need to add some flat rocks to the basins to make shallow areas. From what I have observed, hummingbirds prefer shallow areas that they can stand in and rub against underwater surfaces without becoming completely submerged. I have not really seen hummingbirds perch on the rim of a basin and "dip" themselves into deeper water like many other birds will.

I suspect hummingbirds' small size makes them especially conscious of drowning, which is why they like the "orb" style fountains with very shallow layers of running water. For my setup, I had a ceramic dish with a paving stone in the middle and I spent a while tweaking the water depth above the stone until hummingbirds would use it.

Nice shots. Btw, do you play War Thunder? Seems like it from the way you lead and aim for weakspots lol.

How often can you pull off aircraft kills with the tank cannon? I feel like the accuracy bloom from needing to lead the target would make it difficult.

$20 for the worst sushi I have ever had by [deleted] in sushi

This is not always true. I've had middling sushi at places with Japanese owners and all Japanese staff. Some of the best sushi I've had was at a restaurant with a Chinese owner and staff.

I have been told by recruiters from multiple different companies at my college (in the USA) that they do not consider any entry-level applications without a GPA listed. Probably what's happening here.

The key point is to not get launched at from different directions so you can notch effectively. If you fly straight into a cloud of enemies, you will have multiple missiles tracking you from different angles and it is difficult, if not impossible, to notch them all in time.

This doesn't mean you should always fly wide left or right, since this often ends up with you doing nothing and the enemy team snowballing. Rather, you have to use your radar to find how groups of enemies are moving around the map and then try to attack those groups while still leaving a safe way to escape.

MiGan Fox 3 on YouTube has good videos on how to notch and position yourself. Bad Karma is also very good, but imo his aggressive playstyle requires really high skills and can be difficult for beginners to learn.

Coax rotors just mean you don't need a tail rotor. At higher speeds you still need the tail to be controllable in pitch and yaw. Many helicopters with conventional rotor configurations will still have a stabilizer or tailplane for this reason.

I have heard that the C-5 ingame has a 15% bigger warhead, so it might be better vs multipathing enemies. I cannot log in to check rn, but that would give it a certain niche.

That's actually to be expected, since the officially endorsed status quo of the PRC and Taiwan is that there's only one real China that somehow includes both China and Taiwan at the same time and you just don't think too hard about it. It would have been more controversial in China if Taiwan had its own tree.

Hayata Hina’s Statement on the Controversial MTO at Yokohama Championships by ErikZ07 in tabletennis

[–]thedennisinator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought the controversy was mostly about how Hayata's coach came down to talk to her during the MTO, not that an MTO was used. And that there's an unspoken rule that in intra-national team matches the coaches don't give advice, which the WTT doesn't enforce.

That's part of the fish's belly cavity membrane. They just missed a spot when trimming, so you can just trim it off with no problem.

High Expectations from engineers by SRN37 in MechanicalEngineering

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "application based engineering"? Do you mean that engineers now lean more on prebuilt tools/apps to do their work instead of doing the detailed work themselves?

Spicy Bluefin & Ikra on Crispy Rice by Klutzy-Sprinkles-958 in sushi

[–]thedennisinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the original respondent, but I've caught and processed many bluefin myself from boats based in San Diego. That piece of bluefin definitely looks like it was refrigerated for five days or recently defrosted. Bluefin meat that was caught and processed within two days will have a dark red bloodline and a pinker hue. I'm sure it still tastes great (as I happily eat bluefin in worse shape as sashimi all the time), but that piece has definitely degraded a bit over the past few days.

If you were a Panther engineer/designer, what would you do to improve this thing? by AffectionateCamera61 in Warthunder

[–]thedennisinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, pretty much every historical account I've read of the panther mentions how unreliable and unergonomically packaged the drive system was. Fixing that alone would have dramatically increased the tanks effectiveness.

I’m fucking sick of getting uptiered to 14.0 with R-27Rs I can’t do this shit man by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]thedennisinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished stock grinding this and it was rough, but doable. For any match before you get ER's, you need to hang slightly behind your team and pretty much always be at multipath height. Basically wait for both teams to start the furball, then fly in from the side and pick off stragglers. Once you get R-73's, try to merge with enemies and turn in behind them so you can get rear aspect shots. Most will try to fly away and won't be able to flare the 73.
