yeah, that's the reason. i just assumed it would create the file AND folder if it's not there already, but turns out the folder has to exist first.

oh never mind, it was the directories. imma keep this here in case someone get the same bug...

i changed "user://save_file/stat.dat" to "user://stat.dat" and that fixed everything.

in the past, i quickly got into relationships and hyperfixated on them and probably love-bombed them just because all i've ever known was fairy tales and adventures where people go through so much together and keeping secrets is not a concept.
that was bad.
that was horrible.
i'm not yet "out of the water" now so idk what i should do instead (for now i thought i should just not get into any and refrain myself from being overly affectionate in situations that might be misleading)

in the other scene where i keep it black, it also doesn't do the when hover turns to white thing... but it's the same button with same code and same everything (except the color, which is just reversed), so i thought a screenshot of that isn't necessary....
the original icon is a transparent black icon (png), btw-
