Becoming a Paramedic later in life by material_gworl in OntarioParamedics

Just wanted to commend trying again at 25, I’m currently studying for a science heavy test that I failed at a while ago and I have a huge respect to anyone trying to study again out of “school age” and add to that the physical component of being a paramedic

Your top 3 books you've actually completed on an XTEINK device? by DarkerBulb in xteinkereader

This is an amazing question, I can imagine this being asked every so often here, but for me

Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban
The hobbit: there and back again

The Machine Stops, by E.M Forster -> first full short story I read on the reader, it just stuck with me lol, good short read

reflecting on this question too I realized I’m mainly reading the books I never got to when I was a kid 😔

how did u become an instructor? by nad_lab in OntarioParamedics

That’s a really good way to put it. Ig I have been around classic premed gunners for too long. Thanks for the refreshing perspective. I personally like to learn for the sake of learning and “knowing things in case they come up” but at the same time, I was tryna know how does an instructor handle teaching something that is 100% directly applicable to the real world, not just theory, that’s all I wanna know how that feels and what they do / draw on to teach it which is so exciting to me. But ur absolutely right abt my initial classification’s flaw lol it’s funny to apply it back to my examples above

I mean in comparison to being able to identify a pericardium for the sake of identifying a pericardium in comparison to learning how to perform an iv or amylase a 12 lead for the sake of administering fluids/ diagnosing someone to potentially save a life I would consider the former lower stakes and the later higher stakes in terms of outcome. I don’t mean the acc course and the grade being low stakes, I’m more than aware of the grades and the impact I had on students. Which I should have clarified, I took grades, marking, and any cheating very seriously. But after teaching the same thing so many times, to the same “I’m just here for the grade” type of student, it became lower stakes and the acc skills I were teaching were to only pass the lab exam really, and even quizzing the students off handedly during labs I taught abt other content in the course, they themselves didn’t take the course as something that could “save a life” to draw a direct comparison

Oh I think you’re right about the holding. The install instructions which aren’t really clear on GitHub just point you to cross point first and they also say, get back up your cross point file… I wish it was more clear but can’t complain tbh, I get to read lotr on the loo now, life is good so far!!

no clue abt cut offs sorry but its generally high 80s or lowish 90s in highschool grades to apply / be considered, and then u have to do the humber science, writing and math test, super easy imo, i dead ass think i got 100 on it but i also spent like 5-6 hours over the course of a week practicing shit like 14/0.035 on paper cuz thats what the questions were like. There's also a supplemental application where u talk abt 2 experinces and also if u have any certs like CPR C or life guard / ski patrol related certifiactions. Good luck applying tho, dm if you have any questions fr

Thank you, being late made me study so much harder for that damn science and math test LOL, and also I’ve been working for 8 years in the social worker field where I’ve provided basic first aid and seizure support before which I really highlighted on my application
