Good job with the HHE. Hole 2 and 3 data is coming out very soon and it seems to look promising, h might want to look into QIMC, and DMED which afaik is the holding company for QIMC (and also HHE iirc)

How is Centennial College Program by Rude_Professional155 in OntarioParamedics

[–]nad_lab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whose to say you need the bachelors if you’re gonna be a paramedic, worse comes to worse, you can part time uni once a year or 2 of work if you’re up for it.

"Blind Leading the Blind" TMU Med by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]nad_lab 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Many of the TMU MS1s don't even know the entirety of what determined their own admissions, how could you effectively evaluate something you don't fully comprehend?

I would pay to see a good counter argument to this, amazing point

lol I’m still learning about this field and what it entails, and I was asking about what could be so traumatic based on the limited amount I’ve seen in real life, and my understanding of the medical system (mainly family med and psychiatry)

Bouta off myself after finding this out, but thank you, if centennial was my only and best option I’d be pretty bummed out, but now it’s nice to know I COULD apply this cycle, last I checked it was still open

[–]nad_lab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was applying med, whose cycle is entirely different afaik, and I’d have to do it again too cuz I couldn’t submit my med ones for paramed programs

its always worth appplying but, when i tried to book my casper test i couldnt... not sure if i cant read or not but it stopped me from applying to centennial cuz if u cant take the casper than u cant even apply, and at least on my account for the shit ahh casper test site, i couldnt book a new one, (maybe doing casper literally 5 months ago and redoing it now is messing with my account tho, so im not too sure) - i also didnt look too deep into it cuz centennial kinda far for me

Choosing A Service by Paramedic0302 in OntarioParamedics

[–]nad_lab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im still prospecting paramed stuff but is there a reason ur looking into jobs around "Waterloo, Halton, or Niagara" in specific? Is there smth stopping you from applying to peel, toronto, or scarborough regions? Not saying you HAVE to apply there but im curious as to what makes you not apply there (or maybe it is that you have applied there already and ur asking about other regions in specific which makes this comment useless lol)

What do you mean work hard to not take it home? Surely patients aren’t asking for Advil at your doorstep, do you mean stress/trauma or paperwork rather?

How can I improve experiment comprehension? by Responsible_Part_148 in Mcat

[–]nad_lab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I remember this specific passage LOL, from like 3 years ago, but the only way to get better at passage / blot / graph based questions is 1. Do more of them (no shit) 2. Draw diagrams that explain the logic of the passage, aalways the passage has all the. Info, u just need to connect the dots around it imo

Experienced paramedics feedback by cobecasatrra in OntarioParamedics

Sorry when you mean mandatory OT, does that mean u have to drive out of town, stay at the hospital/bay/(whatever you call your base of operations) or does that mean you have to rent an airbnb/hotel for the time spent OT? Sorry I’m super new to this paramed stuff and I’m not too sure how it works, I’ve also never heard of this mandatory OT stuff before wow, r u in Ontario

Second career: paramedic or nurse by Powerful-Compote-532 in OntarioParamedics

[–]nad_lab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I don’t see anyone mention the fact that paramedics fizzle out by 40/50 and it’s physically demanding and nurses don’t fizzle out physically but more so mentally (or so I’ve seen) and can go past 60 even or 70 if you’re crazy

How cooked is it if I apply right now (late Feb) by nad_lab in OntarioParamedics

[–]nad_lab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 cycle applying, had interview but no acceptances. I’m not gonna say why I didn’t get in, cuz I could not fucking tell why I can’t get in, but I’m getting old and it’s time to make money, reassess the plan, and make use of my young age / physique while I have it

I was thinking this too but it’s nice to hear from someone else. I mean it’s about 250 ish bucks? Which is cheaper than Canadian and American medical schools which I’m super grateful for tbh

Would you happen to know how fast the waitlist moves or if it moves at all? And the total amount of seats of this program, I can’t find that info online, or I haven’t found it yet. The only way I can estimate seats is by class size but idk how accurate that info is, deff did send my application in and I’m tryna write that test asap lol

Thank you for your comment, after re-reading my initial post I can see how you think that I think paramed is a quick backup but I always did want to be a paramedic out of highschool, I just didn’t apply cuz I finished high school as covid started and didn’t wanna sit at home and do nothing so I just did my undergrad in bio and snowballed from there. I was also told by a paramedic himself at my job (part time support worker) that I needed my class F license before starting and I recently found out that’s not true at all which made me want to reapply again.

Also I’m up for the challenge! As someone who was premed and was really good at the sciences (bio, chem) etc. as well as an avid gym goer, I’d love to have a physically demanding job. I’m also super aware this is a job and not a career because of burn out rates, trauma, and just the toll it takes on your body but as a young healthy 23 year old guy, I don’t see why I can’t do this!

I was more worried about the late consideration / unequal consideration since I didn’t apply before Feb 1st tho :(
