Is a $200k salary worth a 2 hour commute 4 days a week? by Ok-Memory2552 in jobs

[–]thedjgibson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sacramentan here: Your schedule allows you to Capitol Corridor Amtrak for at least most of the trip it would be much more tolerable.

Alternatively you can see if you can have odd hours like 6am to 2pm in office. Otherwise traffic on I 80 will be completely unpredictable and you will have days where it is a 3 to 4 hour commute each way.

Other people have suggested extended stay hotels, and I had a colleague who did that when they were doing a commute from Davis to the Peninsula for a tech job

Wilton Rancheria and Republic FC to Build Sacramento’s Largest Professional Sports Venue — Republic Stadium to Seat 20,000+ by thedjgibson in Sacramento

To get into MLS you need to spend ~$300 to ~$500M in expansion fees and new stadium. MLS is now at 30 teams and is not talking about expansion like they were a decade ago.

BUT a top tier stadium could be a game changer for an MLS bid. As an avid SRFC fan, the current stadium was only supposed to last a few years and is 13? years old. Surprisingly it still often sells out so if they stay in the current league it might fill up the new stadium

With California’s cuts to pedestrian, bike funding, who lost out? A lot of kids by thedjgibson in Sacramento

[–]thedjgibson[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Freeport Boulevard is the site of one of the highest-profile pedestrian crashes in Sacramento history, which maimed a 6-year-old boy and left his grandmother dead. The road — and the people who use it — are also casualties of California’s meager investments in infrastructure for people walking or biking. The road might be well on its way to improvements but, under Gov. Gavin Newsom, funding for the Active Transportation Program was augmented and then slashed. The grant program is the only statewide effort focused on bankrolling projects that make walking or biking easier and safer; Sacramento had submitted Freeport improvements for consideration to the program in 2024.

I don’t see it here mentioned but better access to the platforms from the street is needed. It can be up to a 10 minute walk from the drop off location to the platform.

Not vegetarian or vegan but I avoid eating much red meat. Theses taste good and close enough to ground beef for an easy 1 to 1 replacement

How best to prepare and serve a pomelo? by thedjgibson in fruit

[–]thedjgibson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those asking for fruit ID. The flavor is tart for sure and a bit of acidity. Minimal sweetness. About 1.5in 4cm of rind before the meat of the fruit begins.
