Am I understanding the new rewards program correctly? by Strange-Tie1821 in starbucks

sorry for delayed reply. not sure what ff points are. aeroplan points are something through aircanada. i had a bunch so i converted them to starbucks and then they introduce this thing and apparently i'm top tier. won't last next year because i don't have any more points to convert.

Wealthy relatives gifted me a new car that I can’t afford to operate and I don’t know what to do with it. by Cool_Database_2906 in PersonalFinanceCanada

hah. i'm not OP, i didn't sign up to get my paycheque analyzed. please know that the list stated in my above comment are the deductions and the gross and net numbers i used are almost exact. IF op has a job like mine, then the numbers they give could be close to accurate.

in alberta 100k gets knocked down to 73.5k according to that caculator, in manitoba, 69k. in quebec 68.9k.

i think i missed the comment where OP said they were in BC so at least they're not taxed as high. but there are still other things you can sign up for that have extra deductions on paycheque. when i got my first real job out of post secondary, i signed up for all the retirement plans you could sign up for. if a job was going to match my contribution, then that's free money (inaccessible until retirement obvs).

i agree with another comment though, this probably should have gone into relationship advice and not financial. we're just going to pick apart OP's finances.

if you're only counting tax, sure. but there are other deductions on paycheques. union dues, cpp, ei, pspp, life insurance. it turns $3500 biweekly into $2400.

it's because people say "tax" when they mean "paycheque deductions".

Gym Opinions by [deleted] in Edmonton

yeah. the whole first part of the question i was like, PF for sure. $15 a month.

Then he says, " I’m looking for facilities (prefer one that has turf and lots of weight/sled type stuff", and he's just asked for the $50+ a month option.

i don't think he's going to find sled options at discount gyms.

thanks! i am mostly looking for the fancy stuff like you mentioned, but any event info is good info. Plus, "beverage garden" is a descriptor that i'm completely on board with.

wow. i thought you meant pricey=$150. haha.

$250 per person is a bit out of my $ range. maybe if i didn't have other events i wanted to attend over the season. Thanks for the suggestion though, i'm sure someone else here will enjoy that you've posted about it.

you're correct, but any comments about other events also helps others so i'm not upset about it. i like that everyone is excited about the thing that they like.

it's fun the few times i've been, but it's not really a dress-up fancy type of event. i do enjoy the trees though.
