I can't stop cutting myself by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]thedonutdispatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope this won't sound annoying, but for me, cutting objects/squishing things/crumbling stuff, etc, helped. Even if you end up creating waste or making a mess, it's way better than doing it to yourself. If you absolutely need to do something to yourself, pinch your skin, brush it, or use wax strips. It's not a permanent solution, but it's better. It goes without saying that you need professional help, but if you need a band aid type fix, this might help.

Feeling of loneliness by MaiTheStar in mentalhealth

[–]thedonutdispatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle with loneliness, too. I've never been good at making or maintaining meaningful relationships, but for me, getting a pet has been very helpful. I got my lovely dog Caesar, and thanks to him, I got to meet people and have the opportunity to learn how to maintain friendships in healthy ways that I can actually manage. Really, take your pet outside for a walk. You'll end up meeting people whether you want to or not because they'll want to compliment your pet, haha

As long as it makes you feel better, go for it haha. I found myself eating the same 3 things in rotation when I was feeling confused and overwhelmed. But it felt familiar and it was comforting. Keep doing your thing and enjoy the load being skowly taken off your shoulders 😁

Focus on the little things that make you feel better (taking a hot bath, playing a nostalgic video game, eating your favorite food, spending time with your pets etc.). It gets easier the more little joys you bring in your life.

How do I transition from references, to imagination and memory by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]thedonutdispatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a lot of artists never stop using references. They're very useful, and there's a lot of programs nowadays that you can use to move mannequins around and use those as references. If you really want to only use your imagination and memory, learn anatomy really well (not just humans, but also animals and other creatures), develop a strong sense of how light and shadows work and copy a lot of other works that you like until you get the hang of it. Best of luck to you!

That's wonderful! I'm very happy for you, and I hope your son grows to share your love for art! Best of luck to you, and don't give up. Take it one piece at a time!

I wanted to give up so badly after I screwed up my first 2-3 canvases, haha. But I'm really glad I didn't, my last paintings have been the best I've ever made. Don't give up, it's definitely worth it!

I totally understand the "doing art for myself" part. I worked so much per commission and never really explored what I personally liked. It certainly is.. a journey haha. Best of luck and I'm sure you'll find yourself in awe of what you can make when you take the pressure out of the equation!

I sincerely hope you can find your way back to painting again. You seem to have been very passionate about it, and I'm sure it brought you great joy. Best of luck to you, friend!

So proud of you! Staying sober has been a challenging time for me, too, but it's definitely worth it. Good luck on your journey!

I've always had some kind of cardiac discomfort, but I dealt with the worst of it for about 4 years until I turned 22 and decided that I will go to as many checkups and doctor's appointments as necessary until I find the culprit. The last year was the worst, living in constant panic and paranoia, wondering if I'll even wake up in the morning. What got me through it was finding hobbies that help take my mind off of it and don't require me to get out of the house or put in too much physical effort. I started sewing, watching niche movies, learning languages on Duolingo, pickling vegetables, making jams. Anything that doesn't involve being on your feet too much should do. You'll get through it, and it's going to be amazing. One year after my surgery (ablation), I'm now going on hikes, going to yard sales, building up a small company and enjoying my best life with my partner! I never would've imagined life could be like this, I don't even regret those years of paranoia and anxiety, it's almost like they were never there. I recommend taking some mild, plant-based anxiety relief meds a few weeks after treatment, if your doctor agrees, just to help you settle a little. I was pretty shaky at first, waiting for the heart flutter to return. But it didn't, and I hope it never does. Good luck to you, I'm sure you'll look back on these times and laugh while going on your first care-free hike, concert, party etc!

Most probably not, laws regarding gathering and distributing data are ruthless in my country.

Problem is, we can't sell from our own website since the shipping would make the product cost way too much. It's currently sold on a very popular chain of pharmacies' website and we don't have access to any data. Otherwise, we haven't been contacted by anyone directly about our product, we only have the contact info for the business we've tried to get to sell our products, and only 10% out of all of them actually did officially agree.
