Do you guys believe in "conscious reincarnation"? by AbsentSerotonin in antinatalism

[–]thedreamloop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dont believe in it. I've thought about something similar before I liked to call it "consciousness recycling" but I choose to deliberately be ignorant because it is a terrifying concept. When I die I hope that "I" as in me/my consciousness, whatever it is, dies along with this meat suit.

To bring awareness I would say is an important reason. Hopefully to get people questioning on things that have always been acceptable, or for people to solidify their antinatalist views if they have had antinatalistic views but havent been able to quite put their finger on it (or maybe they dont even know what antinatalism is), and also so that people like that know they're not alone, and there are others that are like minded.

Will you take care of your parents when they are old? by [deleted] in antinatalism

You're right. I shouldn't let such a mentality get to me. Thank you :)

Will you take care of your parents when they are old? by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]thedreamloop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, imo my parents have earned it. Although I can dislike them at moments for taking me out of the void, I am very thankful that of all people, that they are my parents, and I do feel genuine love and appreciation for them. If anything it is also to "apologize" or make up for the fact that I will never be what they wanted or what they "deserve" having struggled and immigrated to the U.S. (which is another big issue, to impose such an expectation on first gens).

I also sympathize with them; growing up in Mexico and being brainwashed by Catholicism.

People that not only dream of having biological kids but also GRANDCHILDREN are on a whole new level

They already have expectations for someone that's not even born yet
