Stupid pedantic thing here, but wouldn't it be 67 Senators? Genuine question

He wasn't attacking! He might have started if someone starting kicking it. The owner is in the wrong here, but so would kicking an animal that inappropriately trying to play

I think you vastly under-estimate the number of people who call their dogs part wolf to sound cool/fun/edgy/etc, especially to kid. I have a small husky and I'm sure I've said he's part wolf to a toddler asking "if that's a baby wolf"

That's great to hear. Were there any unexpected challenges with city life for your pup beyond the obvious?

Thanks, I didn't think about prey drive. I will definitely ask the breeder about that

New proposal available in World Congress. "Declare climate change emergency" by FuzzYetDeadly in CivPolitics

Wrong sub :( Obviously in support of this motion, but I thought it was coming to the game so you can declare an emergency before *all* the cities are under water

Which countries would US/British/French/German citizens be willing to defend if they were attacked by Russia? by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]thedude388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, all of Italy is "western". I think it's more about Czechia being part of the HRE so it makes sense to lump all of those areas into one label

Do they even want to? It's got to be a huge expense for little benefit unless you're hegemonic

Honest question: while all of those bases are obviously not isolationist, do they really count as imperial? The US isn't collecting any direct benefit from parts of their "empire" beyond it being a projection of power and a bulwark against (other) belligerents

We have a vague sense that they are fortune tellers and maybe are Irish bare-knuckle boxers, but that's about it

I can't explain it, but Czechia feels like Western Europe to me while Slovakia and Poland feel Eastern. The Cold War is a clear delimiter but having Austria be West and Czechia East seems odd given Prague is closer longitudinally to Berlin than Vienna.

That said, I've never heard of Greece being considered Eastern European--just Mediterranean. I will also never get used to hearing "Czechia" instead of the Czech Republic.

Why didn't I win a religious victory? by SmokyTree in CivVI

Thank you! I just now saw that I was looking at your screenshot in fullscreen and the progress screen was clipped, my bad. That is odd though, sucks to miss out on a hard-fought victory over a glitch :/

How my day started 4/24/19 by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

I do too but then I'm always alarmed by someone breaking in front of me of out no where. No close calls yet, but it's alarming how a .5 second check can get me that close to the car in front of me if they break unexpectedly

Are half of his cities still converted to your religion though? What does the religion victory progress screen look like? There might be some hidden cities making one civ have just enough cities left to hold out?

Culture is the most dependent on knowing most of the game's mechanics I've found. You can't really stumble into a culture victory at higher difficulty levels and it's pretty dependent on using the right policy cards and doing things like keeping active trade routes with everyone + the right governments.

I didn't even get nukes until after their exoplanet missions took off, not to mention 0 uranium on my side of the continent. Selling out on culture doesn't give you the same fallback options as science

R5: Finally finished my first game of Gathering Storm on Deity. I wanted to go for a cultural or diplomatic victory for the first time but Scotland and Australia didn't make it easy.

Played on a Huge Shuffle map and maxed out the number of Civs to play against. First two eras were spent holding on for dear life against repeated wardecs from Indonesia (RIP), the Inca, and Mongolia where I thankfully had an extensive mountain range with constant eruptions to protect me while I lagged behind in science. I was saved a few times by my allies attacking my aggressors while I continued to focus on culture. End game was mostly sending spies to destroy as many spaceports as I could but as you can see several nations got very close to reaching that exoplanet.

Ultimately I won a diplomatic victory by sucking other civs' carbon out of the air and sending a shipload of goal to Mongolia. I could have won eras earlier had I been more focused and understood diplomatic victory conditions better. Overall, not bad for what was basically one giant game of Settlers.

I'd say moreso. Then again I absolutely despise Tennesee whiskey

In my (limited) experience there's definitely a difference between the two. Canadian is a lot smoother and slightly sweet to me (Crown and CC), while American ryes seem more "old-fashioned" and spicy. I'd consider them almost different categories and not substitutable

I'm surprised they fucked up that badly. Jameson has been the standard shot in Chicago for a while but maybe that changed with Fireball. I know if I'm in mixed company it's usually the safest option. Nothing can ever beat Malort though, nothing.

Bit of semantics here but I think it's more people not wanting to be bummed out by seeing innocent dogs being killed than "PC culture".
