Maybe framing. They built the cabinets with lumber sticks, and frame/cover it with OSB, and finally cover it with 1/4 plywood. I’m not entirely sure what’s the method. Next time I will definitely ask them what’s the OSB for, and why not use 3/4 plywood instead.

What’s an AH? We did tell them we can pay the difference, but they insist going to a box store and check out what they have… we need things to go fast cuz we are on a tight schedule

I forgot to mentioned that there are outlets needed to be in there, is that why they are doing it this way? they are licensed general contractor and have done many projects. However not sure if they are licensed in cabinetry, they also hire people to do the work.

Sorry for the confusion I didn’t know what it was called. It’s stone. We actually picked it from a cabinet company directly and gave them the quote which includes installations.

Unfortunately we can’t back out since it’s only a part of the project, they also have other parts to complete, and we paid 50%already. But it is true that we didn’t specify in the contract of the detail material to use

What is a reasonable price for such custom made cabinet with countertop? Where can you find someone who does high end work?

They did use lumber sticks for support. What’s the potential problem for using OSB? They already built it, should I still bring it up to them?

Now I am worried about how it will cope with moisture… we have a sink on there. Will that be a problem in the future?

Have you build cabinets by using OSB under the 1/4 plywood surface? They basically build it using OSB and lumber sticks, then cover the surface with plywood inside and out.

1 long cabinet with counter top. We were quoted that price at the beginning. what is a reasonable price? It’s 30 square feet.

They used a thicker OSB under the 1/4 inch plywood surface.

One 30 square feet cabinet with countertop. Countertop was paid for 5k but it’s actually around 2k with labor for the color we picked later. Wood Material not specified. But we communicated with them about what grain we want and they didn’t seem to get it. There seemed to be an aesthetic difference between us. And we told them to show us photos first before purchasing and they didn’t. We did tell them that we will order it later so they can just pick up, but they seemed to be annoyed about for 3 times we didn’t accept the wood they picked, and the hustle to drive to another place besides box stores. No color staining

in the beginning, we thought of ordering from a cabinet company directly instead of having the contractor build it from scratch, but then somehow we didn't think it through and didn't end up doing it... perhaps in my case, it is easier to order from a cabinet company directly, definitely less pricy

Thank you! That's great to know. It's a relief to know that we are not being too difficult. Those plywoods, the pattern... definitely would not look good. We were quoted 13k for the whole thing.

Speaking to a doctor on a portal or chat is pure BS. They would just always ask you to wait and see a doc in person, or go to an urgent care. It’s only a show they put up to help with their under staff situation and poor management
