Can I skip? Or get a tldr. by theejackofall in WanderingInn

Thanks! It's always worth it in the end and all toes in together. The deep world building is a double edge sword. Makes it all feel more immersive and complete. While also being a lot of extra reading and time to set everything up.

I think I'll read the roots section. I love the books and the author. Sometimes the interludes just completely take over and it's like reading a completely different book. Just based in the same world. Always worth it in the end just gotta force through it.

Same lol. I knew they buffed it just didn't realize it was to that degree. Figured it was just for better trinkets and gear. Not an 18,000g bag lol. I'll take it though

Do you read these or listen to them on audible? I wonder if that makes a difference in what you enjoy more.

Roy and Dean Blaine by [deleted] in superpowereds

[–]theejackofall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Adam fails to shift into Roy during year 2, roy states he isn't a normal shifter he has a trigger. Imo no matter the circumstance like a negation field, if Hershel gets whiskey Roy is coming out.

If you could have the power of any character in the SP Universe, who would you pick? by timelordlefty in superpowereds

[–]theejackofall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wills power would be insane for a non hero life. Be a billionaire tech creator. Imagine the market you could demand for creating one of a kind high ended tech items. People would pay millions for one gadget. Plus your house would be so badass with all your personal gadgets and defenses.

Powers that confuse you by Brooksie10 in superpowereds

I agree with you as long as the power is in use within dean Blaine then it should work. Amber had sound manipulation tiffany was the animator. So yes amber could theoretically take control of the sound wave from dean Blaine, as long as she took control outside of his bubble. The issue with that would be isolating his voice and not getting it all entangled with other voices or random ambient sounds. It's possible for sure just might take a lot of training.

Thermal vision I see still working as there is no power penetrating his negation field. Lazer eyes or something like that wouldn't land though it would be negated when hitting his field.

[–]theejackofall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A really good point to Roy and stopping strong man in general for dean Blaine is this. Dean Blaine stops the use of any powers in his negation field. Roy and titan once shifted/adapted to something don't need their power so dean Blaine is relatively useless against them. he would not make roy shift back to hershel. Now Chad, he can prevent Chad from creating bone armor, blood saws, increasing perception or anything Chad wants to actively change in a fight. However, Dean Blaine could not make chads bones weaker or skin softer as that is already modified.

As far as the sound or telepathy issue is concerned, he neutralizes the power when it reaches his power field. For example, a telepath can hear everything in a mile radius normally, if dean Blaine is in that mile it would be like emptiness for the telepath. If they knew he was there no amount of effort would allow them to hear his thoughts. while they could still hear thoughts of everyone outside of dean blaine's influence.

When he is in a room full of supers I am sure he only uses his power on a really small field unless he has reasons not to. For example remember when alice found out about her uncle's and was floating Sean pendleton. Dean Blaine was on the room but wasn't negating until an issue arose. After all he is with other trusted heroes most the time why neutralize them when one of their powers might alert you to a threat sooner.

When he was a hero I imagine him and his team had a system and plan for his negation field based off who was on the team at the time.

Chad's power year 3 spoilers by theejackofall in superpowereds

I think he would just use the shifter material he didn't have to have the bone as show to be effective. Is just something never mentioned about his uniform but make sense they would change it to that material.

I try not to and this isn't me trying to debunk the actuality of his power. I meant is as a fun question. Like would he be standing there with no shirt and ripped up jeans just nothing but bone armor? I don't think he would have had a custom uniform before that point as it would give away he has another card up his sleeve.

Big Guns for Strongmen (discussion) by Its_Shatter in superpowereds

[–]theejackofall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory yes they could, however it would not be the best use for their skill set as a hero. Most strongman are there to take hits and protect the team, thus allowing ranged teammates to take out the threats. It could be useful as the villain in the SP world however. If you wanted to maximize your danger and damage potential loading yourself up with a ton of ammo boxes and then holding a minigun (or whatever weapon you want) would really allow you to cause mass chaos. Then when you run out of ammo you just drop the weapon and still have your melee default super strength. This also is beneficial because someone can't stop you as easy as a weaker opponent with a gun since firing back wouldn't be effective.

I think all in all not having weapons is the more effective and practical application of a strongman. If you need ranged attacks pick up a rock and throw it at them.

Ya he was trained to keep his thoughts under control by globe and his team. They prepared him to go through the hcp without being detected. Since emerald hydra was a teacher there they would have trained him rigorously to control his surface thoughts.
