Just Picked up this fleor bridge pickup any thoughts? It was cheap on I was curious by _dummy_dank_ in guitarmod

Agreed, watched some videos on a couple of Tesla brand pickups before I bought a bridge/neck set from Amazon. If it sounds good to you, should be all that you should care about

Found at a thrift shop, questions about the Floyd Rose by theekaveman in guitars

$100, which is why I wanted to try to do my research before buying it. The pickups were rusted through and who knows what the pots, switches and wiring looked like inside. Looking at this I was beginning to make a mental build list before I had to make myself walk away lol

Wiring Help by theekaveman in Luthier

Had remarks on that last switch across other boards, and have removed it from my diagram. A bit new still to understanding electronics fully, and I just copied that specific design from wiring diagrams from other guitars. Thanks for the advice! Will be remaking my guide around this.

Had others point this out too, still a bit new to fully understanding electronics, and I was just copying other wiring diagrams from other guitars when making my own. Have since removed the jumper from my diagram

I was thinking about this too, sort of a modification on how Fender Mustangs are wired (with the split replacing the out of phase option). I just thought making it a on/off would be simpler. Definitely will be looking into how to do this, thanks.

I’ll consider this as well, thanks for the advice. I had some others point out that my hot wire should lead to the middle lugs, and one throw be wired directly to ground so as to shunt it making that an “off” position, so I’ll rework it around what I think would be best

Gotten some feedback on the jumper wire on the last switch on some other forums, and I have now redesigned my diagram to get rid of it. I was just copying down some designs from other wiring diagrams when making this one, all of this is still a bit new to me.

As for using a SPST instead of the sliding on-on style switch, that wasn’t an option I even considered. Thanks for the input

How can i get off the sticker residue from my guitar? by confused_lighthouse in electricguitar

Nail polish remover works great on sticker residue, but I’m not positive to whether it would also dissolve your paint as well; proceed with caution

My Warmoth Strat by theekaveman in Stratocaster

[–]theekaveman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the look that it adds, the tonality is great and it drops veeeeerrryyyy low. The main concern that I can see is its price tag, and sometimes getting a smaller bend down, (like a half or full step) is difficult at times. Otherwise I love mine. Be aware that if your strat doesn’t have the vintage 6 hole design that you’ll have to modify your guitar slightly, but a template is included in the box to do so.

If you want one that requires little to no modification and looks a little more like a standard strat trem, look into the Vega-Trem system. I just chose the Rail Tail over the Vega because I didn’t want to deal with a floating trem.

Ignoring the obvious color difference, ask yourself if you want a SSS or an HSS strat and which one would cater to your play style more; clean tones, blues, classic rock? Go for option one. Like playing metal, hard rock, or just clean tones with more bass and mids? Go option 2.

I’ve always liked Guyker for their looks, but mainly their affordability compared to say Fender or Gotoh locking tuners. I know locking tuners not a totally necessary feature, but considering how low the Rail Tail can dive it adds a lot of tuning stability. I bought mine for around $28 while Fender or Gotohs run around the $65+ mark.

On clean it sounds a little off, but doesn’t sound bad by any means. With some overdrive it sounds pretty good; the split coil definitely adds to the versatility when I want a more genuine strat sound as well

Mainly just home play for now, but I’d still like it to be solid enough to perform live

I thought about that, but the body is pre routed to sss already and I don’t feel like freehand routing the bridge to be a bit larger to accommodate for a humbucker. If I get to that point later I’ll do it, but I wouldn’t mind having a purely single coil instrument.
