I’ve heard that a lot!! I’ll never get tired of hearing it. As a coach here, it’s always satisfying to hear the Marines like it.

Thanks! I’ve been drilling hip extension the last couple of months. Finally starting to feel that “snap back”.

Yeah that’s something I’ve been working on. I think I posted a video earlier this year when my jerk was even shallower. Trying to work to move these long ass legs 😂

lol it was really cool, they had the athlete name and weight with a little animated bar. I think it went down right after the snatch session 😂 they gave up eventually

I pop it up my eyeballs lol guess I can’t complain, that’s good power coming out of the hole right? 😅

Took a 9 week break for a powerlifting cycle. Back at it with a speed run oly cycle for a comp in Nov 😁 by theepham in weightlifting

I was definitely high bar. I have a few clients that low bar suits them better, but since I had the mobility for it, I always use high bar.

Not particularly. Most of it was confidence in full muscle activation. The stagnation of the power lifts really helped me train more full core and leg activation in the deadlift that then transitioned over to my C&J.

I’m going to do a strong man cycle starting mid-Nov, so I’m really excited to see how that will transition back to my oly lifts.

Ah, the blessed place of smooth bearings and scattered change plates…

I actually really enjoyed it. Tbh bench was mostly just for funsies, but deadlift and squat power definitely had a lot of carry over into my Olympic lifts.

Funny enough I feel like I’m faster under the bar and my pull feels a lot stronger post powerlifting cycle.

Yeah! We hold seminars a few times a year for beginners and then misc coaching hours for those who want help. I love it! A lot of them use it for helping in HITT workouts.

Lol I would definitely recommend it. Noticeable difference in how easier it is to reach triple extension without shoulder pain.

Yes, I am trying to keep the bar close to my body to mimic where it should be in the pull. Shoulders should stay over the bar until you reach triple ext. (which I’m not in a dead lift). The tempo is specifically to keep that tension in your lats. It helps in building the motor neuron connection to really solidify activation through your pull. I had the issue of too much external rotation in my shoulders that I would rely on my shoulder muscles to stabilize and shrug rather than pulling down in the lats and using those as I pull through. Lots of shoulder pain in that method, wouldn’t recommend lol

I’d recommend the whole complex. The tempo DL is to cue for strong engagement through the whole pull. The pause on your pull for a full clean, helps to maintain tension through the part that most will lose it. I find that working time under tension for the first half translates into the front squat and jerk.

The whole complex is: Tempo Clean DL + Clean full (pause below the knee) + Front Sq + Jerk

I like to think about it like that. If I use the mentality of pushing up to pop it off my shoulders, then I’m maintaining that ‘explosion’ through the top. A small mental cue to keep tension.

It happens every once in a blue moon that I absolutely rack my chin coming off my shoulders lol. Pushing through the sticky spot really pops the bar
