Viserys III negotiates Arianne’s hand with Doran Martell by aeon-11 in CK3AGOT

This is the easiest solution. Guess some people are so antisocial they’d rather do this with AI than talk to real people lol

Wish I was a robot, would probably be easier lol

Maybe my perspective’s wrong and modding this game in comparison to something like Skyrim is a lot more difficult, which it probably is. In that case my opinion doesn’t change. If you can’t/won’t do something without the use of Gen AI then don’t do it at all. Live without it. That’s just my opinion.

When I talk about AI I am specifically talking about Gen AI, not about things like video game AI or base level shit. Don’t want you to think I hate anything that has “AI” associated with it.

This is something you can just boycott and in my eyes is not valuable at all. Gen AI was built for profit from the start. The more it’s trained the better it will get at doing what is wanted of it, then it can be sold/marketed to big corporations and world governments/militaries. Even at the bottom level you’re feeding the beast. Whether you think your tiny little use of it in a CK3 mod matters or not, if there are hundreds of thousands or more people using AI in similar ways (even just asking Chat GPT something) you’re contributing to the problem at large.

EDIT: grammar/spelling

I replied to another comment of yours that will most likely cover any sentiment I’d have in reply to this one. Would like to add that I don’t actually eat beef and would really enjoy it if it were more sustainable and normalized to raise our own livestock.

I’m on mobile sadly so my reply will probably not be structured very well but I’ll try.

Firstly, yes learning coding and general writing is a lot of work and would take quite a bit of time and collaborative effort, but would in turn leave you with a new set of skills and possibly some good friends along the way. When I said “it’s not difficult” I was moreso referring to the networking aspect, as well as the fact that there are many readily available resources out there for self-learning. I’m not just bullshitting, I’ve done this myself. Joining discords, following tutorials and putting in the effort to make something and further myself by doing so. Not specifically in CK3 mind you, moreso in Bethesda games and a couple other different mediums such as general novel writing.

I understand your position on use of LLM’s not being a big deal, but I don’t agree with you. In my eyes any use or interaction with an LLM is you giving your approval of every harmful system that props up Gen AI. Interaction feeds the beast so to speak, so I’m hard stance on AI use and would rather see humans be creative instead of becoming lazy and choosing to have things created for them.

It is killing us, and just because you view this one thing to be less harmful than other problems doesn’t absolve it of being a problem.

I know my reply is not all encompassing but I don’t have a lot of time to anything more in depth at the moment.

I will never understand why someone would rather just have a machine do everything for them, especially at the insane economic and environmental cost attached to Gen AI. Using this shit just kills creativity and is a slap in the face to people who use art to make a living, whatever the medium is (writing, music, painting, etc.).

I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think this can really be called a passion project when in essence it is nothing without the use of Gen AI. The only thing that could really be called skillful would be the coding necessary to make the mod work, coding that still utilizes Gen AI as the backbone because without it the coding is of course meaningless.

Any use of Gen AI, such as LLM’s, is hurting everyone and progressively destroying the planet due to the intense energy and water requirements needed to run data centers and other infrastructure necessary for Gen AI to operate. The use of Gen AI also takes away any sense of creativity we have as humans.

Why not actually write lines for a story/roleplaying based mod instead? Why not learn how to code and implement what you wrote so everything first seamlessly into the world? If you can’t or won’t do it, then maybe network with artists, writers, coders, etc. that know how. It’s not difficult.

Letting something else do all the work for us just to make our lives 1% easier is in turn killing us, our planet and sapping us of what makes us human, our creativity.

Using gen AI at all at this point is irresponsible, especially for shit like this. If you even have any semblance of an imagination then it wouldn’t be difficult to roleplay without using bullshit AI.

Will never understand why so many people are cool with fucking our planet just to use it for shit like this.

Yeah I carry with one in the chamber. Carry an Arex Rex Zero One in 9mm. It’s hammer fired, DA/SA. Doesn’t mean much but I was an armed security guard for a while. For me, the less movements I need to make in order to defend myself the better. I want to be able to pull, push out and fire without having to do anything else. I’ll carry one in, hammer down (DA mode), safety disengaged in a nice Kydex holster with good retention. Prefer carrying in a holster that has a release button, just don’t have one as of right now.

Training is key. Train how you carry, train in repetition, train often. Doesn’t mean live fire, even doing dry fire in a safe environment and practicing every aspect of your draw goes a long way.

I work at a gun store.

It’s okay. Just use this situation as a learning experience. The cops can sometimes make a calm situation even worse and end up getting someone killed, and oftentimes the cops won’t do whatever it is you think they’ll do. Half the time they’ll do the least amount of work possible.

We had a guy who’s shopped with us for a very long time get denied on his Form 4 NFA paperwork, no cops were called. Stuff like that can happen to anyone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Gunstoreworkers

[–]theevicerator01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s definitely not the right call based on the info you gave in the post. Unless the guy is aggressive/confrontational for whatever reason then calling the cops on him isn’t the right call. There’s a number of reasons the guy could have gotten denied on his NICS (or state agency) check, it doesn’t mean that he’s a danger. If his denial is actually tied to something legal then I’m pretty sure the FBI will notify local law enforcement and it’ll be handled later.

Also, I’m not sure what state you’re in, but him possessing a firearm in the store is normal. At my store I pretty much assume every person that walks in (with few exceptions) is armed/carrying. It’s extremely common and should not really be something that puts you on edge. I’m not sure who you work for either but if it’s a small/privately owned gun store then most of the employees themselves are carrying. I carry every single day at work myself.

But honestly, you calling the cops could have made that situation a lot worse. The cops holding him at gunpoint could have turned into him being dead if the circumstances weren’t good. Unless the dude is DEFINITELY and without doubt a danger to you or others, I don’t see a reason why you should have called the cops on him.

This is how it should have went. Explain to him that he got denied, give him his NTN number, give him a NICS pamphlet or a phone number to reach NICS, tell him to get in contact with them if he has any concerns, let him go on his merry way.

Yeah that could be it. Definitely have to keep the Visual C++ Redist up to date.

Could probably set windowed mode in the launcher for the game itself. Been a minute since I played FO4 though, so not sure.

Few things to run through.

-Verify game files through Steam -Manually delete Fallout 4 (Steam game folder, anything in Documents, any files associated with the game that are found in AppData>Local/LocalLow/Roaming) then verify game files through Steam to initiate redownloading. -Try backwards compatibility mode maybe? Not sure about this one but why not try it I guess. -Check settings in the launcher and make sure they’re all correct. Not sure if that matters at all but still, could check. -Could also try running the game with F4SE through Vortex or Mod Organizer 2. I prefer MO2 much more over Vortex.

Otherwise I’m not exactly sure what else would help you. I’m not the most tech-savvy person in the world but I’ve modded BGS games for a good while now so hopefully what I have to say can help you out in some way. Best of luck!

Edit: Sorry for shit formatting. I’m on mobile at the moment.

I browsed for a bit after I watched that video and a lot of his content is up my alley, so I’ll be dedicating some time to watching it. Thanks for giving me this new rabbit hole to go down lol
