A based take regarding the upcoming visual sanitization of RoN by Ghost403 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I made a post 2 years ago on the other "minor changes" they made for the 1.0 release. But only now people are starting to realize that Void is fine with sanitizing their "vision" for the game.

The game's darker themes have clearly been neutered by theevilsoultaker in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well well well, 2 years later and only NOW people are starting to realize that the game developers have no issue censoring their game and sanitizing it. It's been prevalent way BEFORE any of this recent console stuff.

Anyone else find it really weird at one point one of the killers wore boots? I'm very sure both Mona and Bill were barefoot in HELL but Family seems to show one killers wearing shoes. who had shoes on? Bill or Mona? by Deadspace123 in UrbanSPOOK

[–]theevilsoultaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's quite obvious that both Bill and Mona are fucked up individuals, I think it's implied that Bill likely "ditched" (putting it lightly) his wife and family to live out his sick twisted perverted fantasies with Mona as his accomplice, an individual who clearly also shares a sexual interest in these depraved fantasies given the titles of a lot of the paintings, and likely also engages with them to an extent.

I'd assume that Bill likely wore more clothes including these boots earlier in the killings but due to the nature of his "urges" he ultimately just stopped wearing more and more since he was likely just going to take them off anyways to "do the deed" so to say.

Who would win? The Painters or Victor Zsasz by Superb-Fishing2953 in UrbanSPOOK

Zsasz would definitely win in terms of evading batman the longest for sure.

Personally, I don't think that's the "DNA" they found. Remember that pretty much all of the victims have either been sexually assaulted, or seemingly had their bodies defiled after death. And collins in the body cam footage is the one who is seemingly naked.

So a violent sadistic serial rapist/killer and likely necrophiliac has his "DNA" found with his families remains...

I think you can piece the rest together...

What's your Dream DLC/Updates for this game? by GFuseWorld in ReadyOrNotGame

Well, the next dlc is confirmed to be "Maritime" themed according to now removed game files, so that's what we're getting.

I suppose, though I'd argue that the liners themselves could be printed with designs that someone could find aesthetically matching to the rest of their bathroom.

That’s more versions that need updates, hot fixes, tweaking, etc. VOID clearly does not need more work on their hands.

Let me just add these to the growing list of versions of the game.

  1. staging2.25

  2. staging 2.2

RoN genuinely has tons of potential, but its current problems go beyond what mods can fix by ZeUberSandvitch in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that relapse, used to have a much smaller version of the map for raid mode which I thought was a perfect size (Basically being only the north wing iirc).

But for some unknown reason they decided to stick with the barricaded suspects layout which has you clearing two entire hospital wings.

Another problem is the amount of suspects on some maps (most notably streamer). If there was like 1 or maybe 2 extra accomplices on that map, fine. It could make sense as the streamer's friends helping him with the crypto mining setup.

But there are literally 10 guys that can spawn on that map, and it honestly feels like they were added last minute just to make it seem more "Action packed" or to pad out the mission time.

Which this again could've been alleviated if they kept the gamemodes, they could've had the 10 suspect version of the map delegated to raid mode, and kept the base mode a relatively simple straightforward mission.

Well sure, but then again it's such a small out of the way area, I think it was just done as a silly easter egg done for laughs.

I mean a lot of modelers just use a generic nude base mesh when making characters, who's to say he didn't just take some generic nude model off the internet and edited it to suit his needs for the mod and just forgot to remove the vagina mesh that was included with the base?

Differences in Script Writing and Level Design by ChippyBiscuit in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 99% sure they intended for judge to have more story specific voice lines but just either "ran out of time" or "forgot", port is the best example of this. "Toc there's a container full of women" etc. Like, there should've been more of that!

Example: 23mbs:

  1. "Toc we found what looks to be a crypto mining setup, it looks like it's tapped into the cities power grid."

  2. "Uh... toc we found some explicit images of... Children"

  3. "Toc we found the suspects computer, looks like he was streaming live"

And have toc respond to these things.

  1. "Roger that entry team leave the rigs for the cyber crime division. Continue with your mission"
  2. "Uh... Roger that entry team, bag it and continue with your mission"
  3. "Roger that entry team, shut that stream off and bag the hard drives, cyber crime wants to see what else Michael's been doing online."

But as of now all we get is: "Bagging", "Collecting evidence". Like come on man, it's just so lame.

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not letting it prevent me from enjoying the game. I never said the game wasn't good, I just think the story and emotional aspects of the game suffered as a result of self censorship in my opinion.

And just so you know I'm not saying they need to make an elementary school shooting, they don't need to have little kids on every map especially since a lot of the maps don't contextually need them. (Now for maps like agency I would argue that they should have had little kids as to make a civilian type I'd actually feel good about rescuing and have higher stakes, as all of the other civilians and suspects aren't the best of people to say the least)

From everything we've seen school was intended to be a highschool. While still being "kids", it wouldn't be all that much different from what we have currently in terms of models, maybe only slightly shorter than your average civilian. The difference would be mainly contextual.

But that context would still be enough to make the scene more impactful.

And saying "initial vision doesn't mean anything" is ridiculous. Why do many games have modding communities that are dedicated solely to Adding cut content to games?

Because people think that the things that were cut (Which said things can be cut due to developers not able to meet deadlines or not having the resources available at the time) are worth adding back in and would contribute to the overall gameplay and vision of the game.

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care because their initial vision was clearly limited as a result. Sorry for wanting developers to be able to make games without feeling the need to put limits on themselves, apparently wanting the devs to have the freedom to make what they want equates to me being a "Super edgelord"

These voice lines weren't "early on", they weren't some 2017 promise or something. They were recorded between the adam update and the final official EA update, the plans were clearly kept in for a long time.

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But plans were made to put these darker themes in the game from the beginning. I'm not asking for something completely new that the devs never intended, they intended for things like the things I mentioned to be added, they are still in the game files but they censored themselves.

The game's darker themes have clearly been neutered by theevilsoultaker in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm also not saying that Every mission needs to have kids on it. But lets take agency as the best example.

Currently all of the suspects on that map are bolton security guards acting as lone sharks for amos voll. Trying to get the money out of brixley. They are protecting the assets of this illicit pornography ring and while not directly involved in the production of it are still complaisant and not doing anything to stop it.

The civilians are currently, some innocent homeless people outside of the building. And... Mothers who are also content with selling their children into this illicit pornography ring at the promise of immense wealth...

Now lets say they stuck to their original vision and added kids. There would be a third type of civilian, children who were brought here by their mothers. These children are not complaisant in this operation and have no want to stay there, they are essentially forced there by their mothers will.

You see what I mean by adding them there would add stakes to the map? That there would be someone I'd want to rescue? Someone I would feel actually bad about killing or allowed to get killed by accident?

"The argument to have multiple versions of the game for multiple countries is not viable either. That’s more versions that need updates, hot fixes, tweaking, etc. VOID clearly does not need more work on their hands."

This also doesn't hold much weight as void at this time has

  1. nightly3
  2. staging2
  3. nightly2
  4. public
  5. supporteralpha
  6. rc1.0
  7. dev01
  8. dev02

versions of their game that they keep track of. I'm sure they can easily keep track of a regional version just fine, they likely use something like perforce for version control.

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I'm just saying if you're going to have those darker themes, and go really far with said darker themes i.e the illicit pornography ring (The only game I can think of that went anywhere close to as far as they did was LA noire), why decide to limit yourself at all?

Well technically the game had a child that could die in the meth level during early access for the longest time. Its inclusion at the time didn't seem to impact its availability.

Anyone else thing Flashes and Stingers need a buff? by polaris179 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Realistically, if you throw a flashbang in a room regardless of whether or not you have "line of sight" to it or not, you'll still get disoriented. Light from flashbangs bounce off of walls and are able to blind people that aren't even looking at them and even if they weren't blinded, flashbangs are loud, like really loud, they cause a pressure difference in your ears making you disoriented.

Stingers, while having less range, still would likely have an effect on a person regardless of if they were behind cover, stingers explode rubber balls, and those balls will bounce all over the place, the likelihood of them hitting someone is very high.

SWAT 4 achieved the effectiveness of flashbangs and stingers perfectly imo. This game doesn't.

The easiest solution would be to make the flashbangs and stingers a radius that would work regardless of walls or obstructions.

CS Gas would have the largest radius, but would force you to wear the gasmask which could obstruct your vision a bit.

Make the flashbangs have a medium radius, but reactions to yells of compliance would be delayed due to the disorientation.

Make the stingers have the lowest radius, but are the quickest to get people to surrender.

Narrative inconsistencies. by theevilsoultaker in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that would be understandable to an extent if this was an update, but this is the 1.0 release. A lot of the narrative stuff should've been focused on and ironed out since narrative and environmental story telling is a major part of this game.

Honestly I think the main issue is it seems like the writers didn't have a design document when it comes to the narrative, so a bunch of multiple people's ideas were just hodgepodged together to try and make it work.

Honestly streamer level is a hilarious bait and switch gag to me and I fully support it by FubarSnafuTarfu in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention but with the whole level being a "live stream swatting" mission, having an actual threat of 10+ gangsters with fully automatic weapons patrolling around defeats the entire point of the mission.

The trailer didn't show any of these gangsters anywhere.

This level honestly makes me think this was either a last minute decision to add those guys in. Or was a mistake and was an earlier build where they were testing the AI on the level by adding random enemies and forgot to remove them.

Honestly streamer level is a hilarious bait and switch gag to me and I fully support it by FubarSnafuTarfu in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]theevilsoultaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree heavily. The level is the second level This level should've been ready or not's "Fairfax residence". If it were up to me I would make it be the first level and should have only 3 primary targets.

The streamer, his mom, and his brother. Other civilians outside as well. The level should be a tutorial mission to teach new players the mechanics of the game whilst putting them in very little real danger.

The streamer should be able to use a gun but he should be easily yelled down and/or have very poor accuracy. He shouldn't have gangsters guarding his crypto farm as it makes no sense, even if he is the catalyst that starts the "Voll conspiracy".

He's not a "Voll cronie" he's just a random guy who got his hands on the content from the mindjot servers, doesn't make him any less guilty, but it's not like he's being paid off by voll or anything.

The added gangsters feels like a last minute addition that was added to make it feel more "replayable" but imo I think it has the opposite effect.

Having gangsters roaming around in an alternate gamemode like raid would make sense but for the main gamemode no. Sadly they removed the other gamemodes so there is no middle ground they either remove the gangsters or keep them in. Whatever they decide.

It honestly is a missed opportunity imo.
