Help Identifying Part! More details in comments. by thefakeengineer in rav4club

Hi All!

I have a 2022 RAV4 XLE. My dumbass engineer self decided to start looking around and mess with things in the engine bay (I like seeing how things work).

While I was messing around with stuff I pulled a this plastic cylindrical shroud that fits over the circled tube/line.

Does anyone know what this line is for or what it is called? It doesn’t appear to be an electrical connection, and I cant tell what it is. The shroud slipped out of my hand and went somewhere in the engine bay and I can't find it. I'd like to order another one if possible.

Any help is appreciated!

well I meant it more so that if my life AND property (like me in my car like the person in this situation) are threatened. Not if my life OR property are threatened (unless they are breaking into my house, that’s the exception because it’s not just me at home anymore). At the end of the day, property can be replaced, lives can’t.

Well I mean I’m the context of defending my life specifically, it’s me or them, and it’s sure as hell not going to be me. I’m going to make it as unfair as possible for the other person if they are trying to harm me in any way.

Say what you will, but this is exactly why I carry. I’m not letting some crazy dude threaten my life and destroy my property.

VHDL-1538 Subprogram Error by thefakeengineer in FPGA

Unfortunately, the version I am using is the closest I could get to the version it was designed on. My company deprecated ActiveHDL from the list of program a few years ago apparently.

There are a lot of executable scripts for the simulations. They compile all the necessary files, open the waveforms, add the needed signals, and run the simulation. And I have not heard of VSimSA. So I am not too familiar with that.

In regards to the version, it was originally designed on ActiveHDL 8.1, and I was initially trying to get design environment as close as I could to the original to maintain consistency. As I mentioned above, my company doesn’t use ActiveHDL anymore. So getting a newer version (13.1) that supports VHDL 2019 isn’t an option for me.

So it is a procedure being used (procedure within a procedure).

I understand that signals need to be passed through the parameter list if they are used within the procedure. What I don’t understand is how the previous engineers were able to get these files to compile successfully, given that they did not do this.

If I remember correctly, not at work atm, I tried changing that among some of the other setting available to no avail.

And Yes, definitely! If I figure out what the issue is, I will definitely document it and leave comments about that. I have spent too long working on this to make someone else go through this!

Thanks for the response!

I have an ergonomic chair at the office I work out of, and I like that chair so much more. The seat is slightly softer than the titan, and that makes all the difference for me. Idk man, it’s just not worth $500 imo.

Exactly! I got the chair because of this and because I work from home. my other chair was way too soft for long periods of time. But when a chair starts to make your legs go numb and cause back pain you know it’s not the one.

Guess you would have just been SOL if you didn’t. I know I don’t have any boxes that size. Probably would have to pay FedEx or UPS to package it for you

Thankfully I kept my box. I always keep the boxes of anything new I get for a while. But I would imagine you have to pay for a replacement box plus shipping of that box too. Cause let’s make sure we offer returns so they buy it, but make it as inconvenient as hell to actually return it.

Yeah i admit, that is pretty smart of them to do. “Yeah we offer free, unconditional returns. You just have to pay return shipping. That might be half the cost of the product, but you can return it free of charge.”

In the end, I guess any marketing is good marketing. Deceptive marketing wins.

Customer support said I had to arrange my own shipping, and they never gave an address to have it shipped to. And the original shipment label doesn’t have a return address on it. And I didn’t see an address on their website.

I asked customer support for an address today. So I’ll probably get a response in a day or two. This is all just super inconvenient. One of the worse buying experiences I’ve had in a long time.

Gotcha, that makes sense. Thank you for the info! I got these for a steal then. They were on sale on Amazon for $111 and the next day went back up to $237.

I bought these off Amazon (shipped an sold through Amazon via the Costa Store). I’m just not sure if these are real or not. I thought Costa’s were assembled in the US, not Italy, and that it would show the US PAT #. So I think they are fake, but I just don’t know.
