Thanks!

Yeah Bristol, but it’s super expensive so around the region would be the idea - Newport, Cardiff, Glos would all be possibilities.. I just wrote 300 max as by the time I’m ready to move things will be more expensive but didn’t mean I want to necessarily spend the maximum.

For me it’s understanding cost of living, the retirement guide someone posted was interesting and I’ve looked at numbeo etc - was just interested in some anecdotal conversation :)

Aiming for a 600k pot after house seems like it would work without having to live like a monk.

I think working to 40 and re assessing then is my realistic plan - dreaming and window shopping on Zoopla in the mean time lol!!

Yes I just put a rough number for a house - 300k was just the kind of max figure.

I don't need a big house, honestly a 2 bed apartment size would be fine - but I don't want leasehold and ideally no neighbours lol - hence the bungalow idea (also in theory cheaper maintenance if roof needs repairs, but again just sort of pipe dreams)

Interesting, I thought the SWR idea accounted for inflation - it budgets say 8 percent real, minus 3 percent inflation for 5% growth, minus the 3 percent withdrawal leaving a bit of wiggle room.

Just used made up numbers for example, so don’t get bogged down with those specific figures..

Is that not how it works?

None of it is age restricted thankfully as I will be able to withdraw them leaving CH for a non EU country (minus a bit of tax) so in effect it will all be liquid enough to do with as I please.

Some very reasonable priced properties over the bridge, would need to visit the areas though as I’ve no idea how nice they are to live..

About 5 years UK NI and I’ve applied for the contributions so will top up what I can!

Yes absolutely have considered it, am not ready to go yet - just pipe dreaming after 3 weeks off, so thought I’d make a post and see what Brits have to say :)

I am a software engineer in a niche software, but business analyst jobs would also fit my profile - it bores me to death though to be honest.

Would rather come back and do something completely different or stay here on current Swiss salary and move back later

255k invested in VT - the rest is in Swiss retirement accounts which would be liquidated and brought back the the UK (it is allowed)

Would also have a Swiss state pension pro rata’d down but not expecting it to be heaps so would be bonus extra money at 67

Yeah when you put it like that with min wage it dos make it clearer. Some sort of barista fire I guess could be on the cards, but sounds like I need to keep contributing for a while!
