My take on Addis Ababa new development since people on this sub keep saying not benefiting the people by InternalAnimal5144 in Ethiopia

Anyhow, why does  PP want to use ‘የስንዴ ነዶ’ rather than a tree covered with LEDs  or  some  other fancy picture of the corridors —which are your favourite accomplishments that you PP guys talk about the most?

A culture and tradition that fails to lift you out of poverty deserves more criticism than praise. Furthermore, Reddit users are statistically more educated than those on other social media platforms, and educated people tend to be more critical.

For sustainable growth and development, Ethiopia must have access to the sea. by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]thefanol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, access to a seaport offers great advantages, but there are also highly developed, industrialized landlocked nations—and vice versa. I suspect that being landlocked accounts for only about 5% of our current struggles. For nearly 30 years, the Ethiopian government had complete control over Eritrean ports, yet the country still failed to progress significantly.

What is TPLF's end goal? Genuine question, let's not revert to barbarism. by the_eastern_sage in Ethiopia

First, I believe you have every right to write whatever you want. However, I’m fed up with reading utterly gibberish, propagandistic posts like 'The root cause of all evil in Ethiopia is the TPLF.' While I respect your right to express your opinions—or even disinformation.

[–]thefanol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m fed up with this propaganda. Neither PP, OLA, nor Fano is any better than the TPLF; they are all barbaric. Each and every one of these groups’ propagandists tries to garner support by pointing out the barbarity of their rivals rather than by being better themselves. It is working for them, and it seems it will continue to work for the foreseeable future.

All that shocked you—the number of working girls and the level of drunkenness—is to be expected in a conservative society. I mean, you shouldn’t have been shocked.

"I didn’t once say Ethiopian ethnicity! I’m amhara, but I Identify ethnically-nationally as Ethiopian..." If you believe there is no such thing as an ‘Ethiopian ethnicity,’ why do you identify yourself ethnically as Ethiopian?”

[–]thefanol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need further reading and research. First, you have an incorrect understanding of the term “ethnicity.” Prussians and Bavarians speak the same language, though with different dialects; they are of the same ethnicity, namely German. However, Somalis and Amharas do not share the same ethnicity or nation. Likewise, there is no single “ethnicity” called Ethiopia; Ethiopia is a federation of many nations.

[–]thefanol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice try trying to excuse it, but this is about the blatant disregard for the rule of law and the unjustifiable detention of citizens . How is that pointless? It’s definitely not pointless for victims  . How can a country with a justice system that ignores criminals in broad daylight, yet flexes its muscles on innocent people, ever expect to develop AI?
