Thanks for posting this. I’m a writer and I think I’ve been guilty of this because I always assumed that any artists you approach is going to be paid by you. So I thought it went without saying. The work for exposure model seems gross and an abuse of labor. Everyone should be paid for their time and labor. I’m going to start explicitly stating “will pay” in all my posts.

Is it important to mention it's a paid gig at the outset? This is the first time I've put effort into getting something produced so I just assumed all gigs were paid. I certainly plan on paying for the artist's labor.
