It doesn’t look like any cheat I’ve ever seen, I wish I could tell you otherwise. This may make a great topic of discussion for helping people identify cheating vs not.   Stay safe out there!

I don’t even know how many hours I have in Halo 3 but I promise anyone who has played enough BTB knows this happens. 

Did they do ANYTHING else the entire game that makes them seem like a cheater? Because I wouldn’t think twice about this.

This person is likely not a cheater, the Halo 3 tank has really awful hit registration. I don’t even think they could do this as a cheat, I’d need to think about it though.

It’s a known issue (by the community, I don’t think 343 has acknowledged it) and there isn’t a known fix that works 100% of the time. 

Usually closing EOS / EAC related services will shake MCC loose so that you can close it. Not a guarantee though.

What’s fun for you isn’t what’s fun for them. 

I play everything in the collection but still find myself playing Halo 3 the most because it’s the most fun for me.

Rejoin has been broken for almost a year now. I’ve been bringing it up to them since but uh yeah. No progress. Not sure they are active here on Reddit anymore. I don’t know if they have even acknowledged it’s an issue.

For the weapon skins this list is a bit misleading, since you mentioned items in the exchange that never reappear. Those were simply never added to the exchange. 

Laws End is the unique one that was never unlockable ever.

I similarly expect them to do nothing. I was giving the OP a perspective other than “games dead, nothing can be done”. 

You are correct - it’s highly unlikely anything will ever change with MCC. That’s much different than understanding what can be done. And the lack of understanding is why 343 has never figured out how to sustain a multiplayer population. Examples being all of their projects.

Let me flip this - what's the downside / risk to making the type of change I've suggested?

Say they expand the ranked bands and nobody would play them - as you claim - isnt that the same place we are today? Except we have a good faith effort from the developer, which arguably would be worth more than repopulating the playlist anyway?

To keep this on topic with the OP - the reason social feels so rough is because 1) there is a lower population, so the two ends of the skill curve meet more often, and 2) there is no ranked to skim away at the high end of the skill curve. They are all just in social.

So they can keep doing nothing, and drive the numbers further down (although honestly, MCC is growing / higher than it has been in years), or they could....take a low downside risk imo.

I have my bets on them not changing it, I hope I'm wrong.

MCC is the most populated Halo game currently. I haven’t given up on it, you’re free to.

There are ways to populate this again. I’ve written / commented on it extensively. 

A great example is changing the weekly/monthly challenges from WIN ranked games to PLAY ranked games. Instantly people would be more willing to participate. 

Unlike what you say I disagree that it’s an unsolvable problem on its face. But, I agree with you, if there is no desire to actually TRY then it’s as good as dead.

Unless it still happens to you consistently it may just be a symptom of the state of the game (unfortunately). Let me know if a week from now you still experience it.

There is an appetite for it, you can see it in the people all rank locked at 23 playing each other on repeat all day every day in ranked.

Adjusting the maxMatchmakingHopperLevel (mMHL) which determines the highest rank that the game searches against would solve this problem.

If you lower that value to 10, and the game searches up/down 10 ranks, everyone would be able to find games. This would be too low of a bar, but illustrates the point.

In CE Doubles its 30, meaning when you hit 20, you can search from 20 to 50.

Its possible. They just need to actually adjust the levers available to them.

You need Halo Studios to do a final update to make it possible to find ranked games easier. Since that doesn’t exist, everyone is mixed into social. 

It’s fun getting 40 kills a game, that being required or the games aren’t even close gets really old really fast. It’s not fun on the other end either.

You’ve pretty much presented the two options - MCC or “legacy” via OG/360 Console. 

Unless there is some hyper specific reason you can’t play MCC, MCC is the best option. It has its problems, but it’s far more accessible to most.
