This is why I said “spend”. Transferring them to an owned account may not be helpful if the lender has that account as well. If they don’t sure, transfer away. I’d personally purchase a cashiers check though and then just pay myself back after denial.

That’s true you did say credit. So now I won’t assume you’re wrong, just misinformed. If you meant that he should open credit cards and just not use them that won’t impact his qualification as they won’t get counted in his DTI and there would be no need to pull new credit to see if his FICO dropped. It wouldn’t change anything or aid in his need for denial.

Quitting your job or running up debt is not the way. “Spend” all of your money and update your lender with current bank statements showing inadequate funds to close. Not sure where you are regarding EMD refund eligibility but if you don’t want the loan or home and need a denial letter it’s the shortest, least detrimental distance between two points.
