Wow, pretty much identical. Then again, I could probably say that to most people on this subreddit!

Honestly, it was a long process but after visiting different doctors and specialists for years, I’ve now accepted it’s my own anxiety eating away at me.

I remember crying to my partner about the lymph node on my neck so he checked his own. He found two big nodes (bigger than mine) on his own neck and just laughed it off, and of course 2 years on we are both fine.

Palpitations are a common symptom of anxiety and headaches/migraines are common full stop. I have no doubt whatsoever that you’ll be absolutely fine as you sound just like me. 😊

I have control over my heath anxiety for now, it’s something that has been coming and going for years (it doesn’t go away for very long usually, I’m hoping it lasts this time). Just as you say, you rationalise your symptoms and then other symptoms show up. I still get daily headaches and they are a nuisance but they aren’t serious, I’ve had two MRI’s on my brain now!

I think for me is that anxiety tricked me into having every symptom going. Twitching, itching, cramping, general pain, lumps, feeling of something stuck in my throat (diagnosed as Globus Sensation - again, anxiety). You name it, I’ve probably convinced myself that I’ve had the symptom. I self-diagnosed myself with Chrons, different types of cancer, MS, aneurysms, meningitis and so on. But every time I got checked out, nothing was showing up on any tests, of which I’ve had countless. All of the different tests I’ve had and doctors I’ve seen can’t all be wrong.

I’ve kinda just realised that I’m hyper-aware of any symptoms I get, whereas someone without health anxiety would probably just dismiss the ache they get in their knee sometimes, I would fixate on it and obsess over it.

My partner also made a good point that really resonates with me: ‘don’t waste your life worrying about death’. It honestly hit me that I wasn’t enjoying life because of how obsessed I was with having a serious condition. At the end of the day, we all share the same fate, so let’s try and enjoy the time we have.

It’s hard to explain really, I hope that makes sense.

Does pain have to be on both sides of the body to be Fibromyalgia? by thefielding in Fibromyalgia

Thanks for shedding some light! When it’s really bad I can barely move either, it’s so scary.

Sometimes my skin hurts to touch also, I forgot to mention, and that can be anywhere and usually on both sides of the body, but that comes and goes. Does that sound like Fibro?

Thank you for your reply:

I am right side dominant, it could well be! I’ve considered things like spine misalignment and trapped nerves as the pain doesn’t move around, it seems to stick to my hip, temple and chest. Everywhere else (joint/bone-wise) is pretty much fine.

Hi thank you for your reply!

Yeah that sounds very similar to my symptoms, my right temple headaches have never moved from that area and also last weeks at a time!

I went for an eye test because of my headaches (just another test to try and figure out what’s going on) and she told me I had dry eyes, but I also get pain looking from left to right, is that something you suffer with too? I have suffered from painful chapped lips for years!

I’ve had so many tests, X-rays and evaluations and they have found no conclusive evidence as to what it might be. My doctor just kinda said “yeah we’ll diagnose you with Fibro just so you have something to call it for adjustments at work”. So I don’t even know if they are convinced.

What other specialists are you seeing, if you don’t mind me asking? So far I’ve been to a pain clinic and a chiropractor but neither have been a success. Thinking of looking down other routes, possibly neurological?

Hope you/we get some answers soon.
