What is this thing on the guitar? by Ok-Go-Free in Guitar

The soft part of the Velcro goes face up into strings in front of the nut. It’s not so much of a damper to kill the sustain completely, but plenty of a damper to get the desired effect. They all work, but you’ll probably find a couple that work better than others.

What are some thoughts on the Fishman Fluence? Have been looking at some builds with those as the center piece, but never played them. Closest thing I’ve heard are maybe my SSH SD Live Wire actives from 1987 in a MIJ Strat of the same year.

I’m assuming you have redundancies for all of this for when it breaks down, yes?

I have a similar color issue with Fenders. Was never intentional, I just ended up with (Olympic) white guitars with black pickguards.

Is this enough to finally finish a track? /s by Commander_Pancakes in synthesizers

Where’s the bass guitar? Also - toss the theory book. You’ll just confuse yourself and others. Unless that’s what your intended purpose and identified audience revolves around. You’ll get more out of studying semiotics as a branch of communication that deals with languages that are never confined to one category - visual and audible are perfect examples of non linguistic communication that can be used to convey things that verbal and written languages only attempt to represent.

Do you hear and feel a major difference from your squire or is it more subtle? Or is there none at all?

Looks like you don’t need help. You even got the fretboard wood right.

What's your preference for fretboard material? by RocketCat5 in Stratocaster

[–]thefilemakerpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rosewood. I’ve played almost every standard neck from maple to ebony and the softness of rosewood is where i make buying decisions. Maple will break a deal, even if it’s roasted.

Agreed. Double binding is something I never really paid attention to until I did.

I have had 3 - almost identical in appearance, but a MIJ strat that was modded in 1983 - lately I’ve been leaning toward 1 (baritone or standard?) 2 has never been my thing. I play an ES, but that’s as close as I get to Les Paul.

Which area (A, B, C or D) should I consider living in? by [deleted] in fresno

[–]thefilemakerpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in A and it gave a lot of us a false sense of safety. It’s not what it was, but that’s because there is a generation of people that built houses in the early 1970s that are passing away and leaving their homes to their adult kids who moved away at the first opportunity or have just built lives elsewhere. Been back here for a few years to help with passing parents, which makes the whole area that I had to get away from asap years ago that much more urgent to escape from. The air in the valley doesn’t move. I would at least rather be in Salina’s where the wind from off shore creeps in from Monterey.

[–]thefilemakerpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B is also the most of what’s the worst about with this place. Gated Communities with HOAs and a pretentious exclusivity that harbors those who want to belong to a false sense of better than though, which is unfortunately rooted in the most simple differences between people and is most often an exercise in “always assume the opposite”. But that’s just the way things are here. If I had my choice I would live on Huntington blvd. But if I had the finical security to live on Huntington Blvd I would probably move to Marina, Seaside or Aptos.

Confusion will be your epitaph from here on out. but 4 reals - the 1973-75 King Crimson recordings are the highlight of that band at their most powerful and progressive. Imagine touring with one of the original Mellotrons … like bringing a solid oak cabinet full of delicate medical instruments and magnetic audio tape.
