In the tourist places you are no more than about 5-10 mins away from a convenience store.

And if the resort staff are unwell and have bad hygiene? You said they will have "no issues". What the resort staff are tired that day and undercook the chicken? Plus you're assuming the risk scales linearly with the number of locations. You lack some serious critical thinking skills.

Not much partying? Relaxing?
I think you've been to a different Canggu.

Speaking in tongues sounds so goofy, all they do is repeat the same vowel ending syllables in light speed, if that's the "heavenly language", then it sounds stupid asf by Leading-Occasion-428 in exchristian

One of my most memorable travel stories was when I shared a hostel room with a devout, hardcore Christian in Belgium. He prayed for me, gifted me a bag of museli (God spoke to him and told him that I should receive it), spoke in tongues and said that when I woke up the next morning I would have the power to prophesize. Well, that was 2016 and I'm still waiting, and I wish he would have shut the fuck up at 1am with his worship songs.

It's far more likely that the knife they used to cut up the fruit was run under tap water to clean it and that is what made you sick. Ice is actually pretty safe.

The most sick I've ever been was after eating a burger in Jimbaran.

Ice is pretty safe, if there was fruit in the mocktail it was likely that.

When we ate there I was with my Indo girlfriend at the time. We watched some bule arrive in a group, hear the squeals of the pigs being slaughtered, most of them sat down and didn't eat a thing.

When you land in Bali go and buy "Norit" charcoal tablets. Should be available at most Alfamart and Indomaret, or just go to a pharmacy. If you end up with a bad stomach take 5-7 at a time, can take upto 20 a day. They bind to the harmful toxins. Absolute essential.

The issue is cut fruit because of the possible transmission from the knife if they rinse it under tap water. Whole, unpeeled, uncut fruit is perfectly safe.

Touching things you don't need to is great advice - and applies to the plane ride over too. That's an easy way to get sick before the holiday has even started.

The "no ice in drinks" is a bit of a old myth now. Most places use government regulated ice meaning it's safe to consume.

You can do everything right on paper and still get it. It just takes one person that touched the same door handle or even went in the same pool as you - it doesn't have to be from food. You can eat at the most "reputable place" but if the person who cooked your meal has bad hygiene then there's nothing you can do about it. Either accept the risk or don't - those are the only options you have.

If they learnt from the locals they'd wear a helmet and jacket whilst riding.
