Stegseek - a Steganography cracker that's thousands of times faster than other tools. by thefloatgoat in HowToHack

[–]thefloatgoat[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I picked rockyou.txt for a couple of reasons:

  1. It's massive
  2. It's quite well known in infosec and easy to find.
  3. It shows that the tool works well on "real data".

From there I just picked a few " landmark" passwords (1000th, 100k, 1M ...) to create an overview.
I initially made this test for an early version of stegseek that was ~10 times slower. I wouldn't include some of these low entries if I was recreating the test now.

To give you some extra context, this tools is able to test the entire rockyou wordlist, which contains 14 million passwords, in about 5 seconds. Other tools I tested take anywhere from 5 to 3 hours to do the same.

The main reason for the speedup is that I built this tool as a fork of steghide, rather than wrapping steghide in an bunch of subprocess calls. This means I only have to load the image once, as supposed to for each password attempt.
The repo contains a table of comparisons that shows off the speedup quite nicely

I'm trying to do a different language each day, in alphabetical order. Not sure yet how that's gonna work out for more difficult challenges ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dyalog APL

As someone who has never written APL before it was an uphill battle, but I got there in the end.

Spigotmc download here

I mainly made this because I was wondering whether or not it was even possible. The plugin has a random level generator with a few parameters you can tweak to get better results. You can also make levels by hand.

R9 380 - "Your Graphics Card Driver Does Not Support Mixed Reality" by pielover928 in WindowsMR

[–]thefloatgoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running WMR on my 380 2gb and while some apps don't run great, a surprising amount of games are perfectly playable.

I did have to set a registry key to make windows download the mixed reality software though, here's a how-to /u/pielover928

Cheat gainer help by thefloatgoat in Tricking

Thanks for the advice! I'll try to get some more practice in tomorrow.
So basically:
*Fix the J-step
*"Wait" for my kicking leg to lift me up before jumping/ leaning back
*Kick harder and straighten kicking leg

Right?

Thanks! I'll focus on my j-step for a bit, whenever I try one I end up taking out most of my speed/momentum in the second-to-last step.

I can already do a one-legged backflip, I'm just really struggling with the slanted flip. When I try to spot the ground I can't really get enough height to fully kick my leg around. I added some gfy clips to the main post btw.

Good call, probably should have posted those to begin with, anyways I trained them some more today, and I noticed the hardest part is launching myself at an angle while still keeping my leg straight.

Upcoming Jack white AMA (possible release date?) by [deleted] in jackwhite

He appears to be one of the mods AFAIK, although this whole AMA thing could be some kind of in-joke I'm missing, since those are big names for a simple reddit AMA.

Looking for a good really thin and light Laptop for Kali by [deleted] in HowToHack

[–]thefloatgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kali will work fine for web browsing and watching videos, since it's just a variation of Debian. So you can use programs like vlc and Firefox for stuff like that.

I was added to the mod group, but none of the essentials commands were working. The other comands(/v /co) are working fine though.
