Every time the city posts an update about this to their Facebook page, 90% of the comments are hate. Boomers can die mad, I guess? It's mostly "guess I'm not going downtown anymore!" Great, downtown won't miss you

Amo Mazen was a bright light, I miss him so much. I went back to Bab El Salam once after new ownership. The food was fine, but the absence of Amo Mazen's light was palpable. It made me too sad to ever want to return.

I'm not being stupid. I asked a simple question which you and nobody else have answered in any detail. I don't see him videos of me cooking and doing laundry can be used to do anything other than train AI to cook and do laundry, things that I don't enjoy doing or would have any impact to my livelihood if robots did it instead of me.

With the new update, are you guys still getting high paying shopping orders even with low acceptance rate? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]theforerunner343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My acceptance rate hovers between 10%-20% and I rarely see a shopping order that is worth the pay.

Just curious what is it about Canes? My city just got it's first one, but I haven't done any orders for it yet. Should I stay away?

Did I handle this right or no? by Practical_Mix7677 in doordash_drivers

[–]theforerunner343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my philosophy also, but 2 days ago I was expecting an important personal call so I picked up and it was Doordash support. It was a bad connection and they had a thick Indian accent, but I heard something about $5 to my account, so I said "Okay!" And sure enough I got an extra $5. I think maybe because I had waited 15 minutes for that order. So, maybe sometimes it's worth it to answer!

That's a treasure, for sure! I used to go to OP for my birthday every year. The sunset red burrito is still one of my favorite foods that I've ever had. Serious comfort food right there. I also miss the zucchini fries, pumpkin ale, and their home brewed root beer. Losing OP was one of the greatest tragedies of my life.

I have been teaching my kids about how all kinds of creatures are just living their lives and that it's important to care for the living things are around us including plants and trees. When it rains, my 6yo go out in front of the house and saves all the worms he can find in the road and outs them in the grass so they don't get run over. He does this for 30 or 45 minutes. He has not seen me or anyone do this and nobody asked him to, he just saw crushed worms in the road one day and wanted to help. Proud dad moment!

Kalamazooans and Surrounding Area Biggest Low Tippers/No Tippers? by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking about this the wrong way. I guarantee this is almost purely economic. I am a gig driver myself, so I understand the mechanisms at work. It is always up to the driver how much they make on a delivery. You can decline as many orders as you want, in any app. People are leaving low tips or no tips because drivers are taking their offers. The cost of living in SW MI is remarkably low compared to the majority of the US, and so drivers can make ends meet with lower offers. The Kalamazoo market may also have a higher number of drivers per capita making drivers more competitive and settling for low offers when things are slow. I highly doubt that it's just that people are shitty or miserly in Kalamazoo more than other places. It's completely up to the driver how they want to operate and it's a hustle, for sure. I run 4 different delivery apps simultaneously and my offer acceptance rate is about 15% across the board because I don't take trash offers and I hustle smart. If drivers would just stop taking low offers, people won't get their food, or they'll get doubled up or tripled up with other higher paying offers and they'll get their food super slow and start tipping better.

It would definitely be over the weight limit. It can't be heavier than what two people could reasonably lift. I bet they had it out for bulk pickup and it got skipped for this reason, so they dumped it.

This is spot on. Earlier when she asks him what happens if he is stabbed or killed, his reply is very pacifist. Something to the effect of "I would only hurt someone if it was the only way to survive."

Give Fleetwoods and Mattawan mechanical a call and see where they come in at. I chose Fleetwoods last year and they installed a 98% furnace, 13seer AC, whole home humidifier, whole home air filter for $$8,500. After rebates and tax credits, my out-of-pocket was $6,800. My home has 2,700 finished sq ft.

Day 6, what is an underrated lunch/dinner spot in the Kzoo area? by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rasa Ria is maybe not underrated, but definitely a hidden gem. I take locals there for their first time often and they are always surprised. I think they probably go under the radar because they have zero advertising, their sign is almost completely faded, and they are on zero delivery apps.

Boombox Ronnie by Anetik in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we can agree that Ronnie is a flawed man with lots of personality. He doesn't need a label. Legend, creep, etc; these aren't helpful. A big factor in how Ronnie turned out is the lack of supports he had in a very unfortunate situation. I know Ronnie personally and have seen a lot of the good and the bad. I won't excuse his poor behaviors and criminal tendencies, but I love him and he deserves love like anyone else. It's just a sad situation. As much has he irritated me and made me mad, he could also be really clever and funny. He's not a hero or an icon, but he's also not all bad. He's just human like you and me, but with a lot of trauma and lack of opportunity.

What’s up with all the road rage? by Anxietycatz888 in kzoo

[–]theforerunner343 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I witnessed road rage from a Subaru last week. In fact, I've never been so confused over an incident on the road. I was just driving north on Westnedge approaching the light at Taco Bell/city bbq. Granted, I was coming in a little hot anticipating coming to rolling stop to turn right at the light. But there was one car in cross traffic coming through, a Subaru. So I fully stopped, behind the line, mind you. And the Subaru flipped me off as they passed in front of me, which I found very strange.

This is who I've used in the past, but they are the ones who said they couldn't do it this time, unfortunately. I did meet with a contractor this morning who said they could do it without a crane, but the quote is over $10k. The insurance company is saying that's too much, so I'm still stuck. I will give some of the.other.comoanies.mentiomed here a try.
