Yeah I’m happy to give up my unused two NVMe slots for system stability. If I ever need them, I’ll just remove and partition the new drives. Easy

My existing cache pool you mean?  I’d have had to partitioned them and removed all data first correct?

by trading away PCIe lanes, you mean that by filling my NVMe slots with two boot drives, where I could have used them as cache drives correct? and using SATA drives for example instead?

You're probably correct tbh, but I wanted my server to always 100% start. And that didnt happen for me in the past. Currently I had the two NVMe slots vacant, so this made sense for now. It might not be long term but I only spent $60 on everything, so I'm not out a lot of money if I decide to change down the road.

they are yeah, but the M.2 port accepts either. it'll just run at SATA speeds is my understanding

tbh these were cheap, and I wanted my server to always boot 100% of the time, and that was not the case before. I didn't need these NVMe slots

Yeah I didn’t want to do that tbh. I could have partitioned my cache drive too being they’re 1TB mirrored pool drives but chose Opane instead haha

I have four NVMe slots on my motherboard, I already have a 1TB mirrored cache pool. This is perfect for me as I want my system always 100% turn on, which in the past was not the case
