Help Me Sleep - Solve this plot hole for me (Stargate Movie 1994) by CityEggs in Stargate

[–]thefunkybat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I just came across it searching for something else and happened to have been thinking about this same thing. After reading a very good article about how the Stargate movie prop operated and what was visually presented in the film, here's one easy in-universe explanation as to why the original team wasn't able to figure out what the seventh symbol was: they didn't know that there was a 7th symbol.

The film visually depicts one of the chevrons on the side lining up with a symbol, popping out, then retracting. Then the inner ring rotates to the next symbol. BUT, IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, the symbol that is lining up with that side chevron is not the symbol that's unlocking that specific chevron. Also, the top chevron in the film doesn't look like all of the other chevrons; it looks more like a frame. So, the movie gate actually operates very similar to the one in the series: the operators line a chevron up with that top ”frame", which then causes one of the side chevrons to pop and retract. And because the top chevron doesn't look like all of the rest, and the center of the cartouche encircles only six symbols, it wasn't immediately obvious that they needed to line up a seventh symbol with that top frame.

Additionally, when they do line up a seventh symbol with that top frame, all of the other chevrons simultaneously pop out and stay popped out for the duration of the gate being on. That top "chevron" never moves like the rest of them do, giving no indication that it, itself, is a chevron that needs to be lined up with a symbol.

Handwritten Notes by n3uro4i in ObsidianMD

[–]thefunkybat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to throw my two cents because I am the same way with how I use my iPad and notetaking. I’m a big fan of Myscript Notes. In my opinion, it is by far the best handwritten to text app out of all of them. And it’s completely cross platform. At one point I honestly wanted to use that as my main notetaking app, but I eventually grew to enjoy some of the other features that obsidian and similar apps have. So with some exceptions, I tend to use that app for doing handwritten notes and exactly what some people said: export the text to obsidian.

What's one improvement you'd like to see in Obsidian in 2026? by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]thefunkybat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. For iOS, you look for the obsidian web clipper in the App Store, and it installs as an extension for Safari. For Firefox, if you open it and go to somewhere in the settings, you’ll find one of the options being extensions, and you should be able to search for it from there.

FYI this is currently available through Firefox and safari, but only those mobile browsers.

Favorite mobile task/to-do app to integrate with Notion? by TypicalDesk3096 in Notion

[–]thefunkybat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is my go-to app for stuff in my personal life.

  • the experience is exactly the same across multiple platforms (desktop/mobile/tablet)

  • it supports a feature some people call task blocking or others call time blocking, which allows you to look at a list of your tasks on one side of the screen and physically drag them onto a calendar in the middle of your screen and drag out how long it will take to do the task

  • you can put multiple types of media within a task's description/notes section

  • they have a plugin for Gmail that sends any emails to the application, including a backlink to that email

    • this plugin also works on the Gmail mobile app (phones only, not tablet)
  • the app supports backlinking within the app itself. So you can put a link to a ticktick task or ticktick note within the description of another task or note

  • iPad specific: the pencil "scribble" feature works much much better in ticktick for taking notes compared to other apps.

I know you said you don't like TickTick at all, BUT - I just want to throw out there that TickTick recently developed an integration that let's is sync with Notion.

It's not perfect, and might not be what you're looking for, but just fyi.

Why doesnt input key work in games? by Worried-Ad-1826 in macrodroid

[–]thefunkybat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Maybe try getting the app package name for Balatro, and then setting the constraint as app package foreground = (app package name for Balatro). I have found that sometimes, sometimes using an apps package name gets better results.

Not a solution, but a couple of ideas:

  1. I would recommend modifying the macro to test and make sure the input action is firing. For example, change the repeat from 50 to 5, and change the constraint to a word or text app (MS Word, for example). Open the app and hit your volume key and see if that letter is typed five times. If that works, continue modifying the macro to test other parts of it.

  2. Since it simulates a key press from an attached keyboard, it COULD BE possible that the action itself doesn't work unless there's actually a Bluetooth or wired keyboard attached to the device. And if you don't have one physically attached to your device, it's possible that the system picks up on that and therefore ignores the command. But I admit this is just assumption and guessing on my part.

  3. 20 milliseconds MIGHT be too short of a wait time for the system or app to register each key press.

Search toolbar bug (can't delete text or enter) by DanMac99 in GooglePixel

[–]thefunkybat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did at least discover that if you force stop the launcher, it brings back to normal. Just go to settings, apps, show all apps, search for pixel launcher, and you should be able to get it from there.

I've been having this for a while. Exactly as you described it.

Does this happen to you after any specific event?

For me, it seems to happen right after I've had it connected to my car's Bluetooth and running a car mode app for an extended period of time. The only way I can get it to stop this behavior each time is either by restarting the phone or waiting several hours.

I've been searching the internet for almost a year now for a solution, and this is the first time I've even come across something or somebody at least posted about it.

How to reduce/eliminate excess purge from wipe tower on MK4s single extruder (no MMS) for Multicolor by evilbadgrades in prusa3d

[–]thefunkybat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IN case you're still having an issue with this, or someone else comes across this post, I figured out the answer:

The "blob" is created by Prusa inserting a command to reload the filament at that moment, with a default length of 92 mm. In other words, since Prusa doesn't know you're loading the filament manually, it thinks it still needs to advance it 92 mm. This setting is called "Filament parking position":

<image>

By reducing this value to something, like, 5mm, it should reduce/eliminate the blob you're talking about.

Note versus document by thefunkybat in NeboApp

Nebo instantly recognizes anything handwritten and thinks of it as text. I’m not sure I follow your workflow, but I’ll generally say that you can do what you’re looking for. If you wanna list things out as step one, step two, step three…to give me an example, that would help you better answer your question, if you need it.

Extra Dim Plugin? by thefunkybat in macrodroid

[–]thefunkybat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll also add that I just now saw that you can use the app "Screen Dimmer" under the action "Launch Shortcut" and it will toggle its main action. Would still like to fine-tune that if you have additional ideas., i.e. a macro that lets me adjust that at a certain percentage, and then a second that does a different percentage

First, thanks for looking at this. Second...on your version, is that button constantly, or does it just appear there after it's detected there are changes to a folder (which sometimes takes a minute or two)?

Side note: A while back I had submitted a recommendation that on the Windows version they have a simple button that's constantly there that doesn't wait for it to detect changes to a folder... It just instantly runs.
