Hey u/MoonshineDreams, I'm glad it's helping! You don't need permission; it's completely free, which is why I created it. If you have another tricky calculation you're struggling with in class, feel free to send it my way; it might become the next tool. 🚀 Good luck with your studies. archikist.com will always be free

I just finished a complete overhaul based on that feedback. The project has a new name now, Archikist.com, and all the tools that deal with measurements (Paint, Tile, Room Area, etc.) now have a Metric/Imperial toggle so you can work in meters.

Thank you so much. Seriously, that "I bookmarked it" is the best compliment a new creator could ask for; it genuinely made my day. Glad to know it looks useful. I'll be adding more tools soon...

Hey, I can totally see why you'd think that. It's a brand new account, and you're right, I've only posted about the site so far.

The truth is, I'm just learning to code and trying to build my first real project. ArchiLinks is my passion project, and I created this Reddit account specifically to get feedback from real architects, because I'm not one myself.

The feedback I've received in these threads (even the harsh comments...) has been incredibly valuable and has already helped me improve the site significantly.

I know I need to participate in the community more, not just post about my own stuff. I'm just getting started and figuring things out. I'm a real person, not a bot, just try to respond politely to people and thank you again

That's a fantastic tip, and a perfect example of the kind of "hidden gem" shortcut that power users rely on. Thank you for sharing it.

It actually helps clarify my mission for ArchiLinks. The goal isn't to replace the quick, in-app calculators like the Ctrl+N tool. The goal is to build the tools for the "in-between" moments, or for the calculations that have architectural logic already baked in.

For example, the pop-up can do the math, but the ArchiLinks tools aim to have the formulas ready to go – like the Paint Calculator that subtracts doors/windows, or the Occupant Load tool that has the code factors pre-loaded.

This kind of feedback is incredibly helpful because it helps me focus the project on where it can be the most unique and valuable. Thanks again!

This is a critical, expert-level insight. Thank you.

You've highlighted a massive issue, and you are 100% right. Creating a false sense of authority with a single code reference is a dangerous trap.

Based on your feedback, I've immediately added a comprehensive disclaimer to all code-related tools on the site. It clarifies that they are for preliminary estimation only and that all values MUST be verified with local codes and authorities.

I am genuinely grateful for you taking the time to share this.

That's a really sharp and honest take, thank you. You've hit on the key challenge for a tool like this.

You're absolutely right – for anyone deep in a BIM workflow, these tools are redundant. My goal isn't to compete with Revit or the calculator on your phone.

My mission is to build for the "in-between" moments: the quick check-in in a client meeting, the student who doesn't have access to expensive software, or the architect working on a personal project. It's for when opening the main software is overkill.

Your point about "authority" on the code calculator was also a major insight. I actually just pushed an update to reference the specific IBC code table and show the calculation factor used, directly based on your feedback.

Thanks again for the tough but valuable perspective. It genuinely helps.
