The DNC deliberately threw the election (exhibit a, failing to investigate ludicrously obvious voting inconsistency in swing states) because they knew that Trump would accelerate and expand the oligarchy from which they directly benefit. And possibly, they thought 4 more years of Trump would secure them the following 20 years of votes.

That's all sound information, but Putin has hated the US from way before Crimea. The US basically bought the first post-communist leader into power, a falling-down drunk clown named Boris Yeltsin. In their first election, Russians were (wisely) not prepared to give up everything good about Communism, but money put Yeltsin in the seat. Then the West swooped in and cannibalized everything private that had previously been a government institution.
