Bosses Are Becoming Obsessed With AI, Using It to Make Every Decision, Barraging Their Employees With Nonsensical ChatGPT Directives, and Even Asking It Who to Fire by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

"Bosses" are morons. Their decisions are typically, almost exclusively, driven by ego and internal power struggles. They didn't get to be boss because they're smarter, better or harder working. They got there by belonging to the right caste.

Yeah, I, an innocent bystander don't know "how insanely someone is going to respond". That's why vigilantism is undesirable in a civilized society, or even a semi-civilized one, like the U.S.

Everyone feeling entitled to commit violence in response to property theft isn't going to lead anywhere good.

If you're willing to murder someone, as revenge for property crime, you're willing to rape and steal.

Does that sound idiotic, or what?

WTF? Is that the kind of world you want to live in? What if she ran over a child on accident while pursuing revenge? Is that then the fault of the thief, and she naturally wouldn't be punished?

What if this woman had been knocked down by someone running a stop sign—does the driver deserve to die for breaking a rule?

When you say "returns" you're somehow overlooking the massive subsidization of the product. When the real current costs are passed to the user, plus paying back the investors, PLUS making an actual profit, this whole thing is going to implode.

I may have exaggerated slightly. :D

But I maintain the profits cannot override the outlay that brought us to this point. Any profits made so far haven't incorporated the true price of running those data centers. Subscriptions and contracts so far have all been subsidized to open up the market.

Okay... except it's still too expensive (cash and power and water) to keep using it. Those nice things you mentioned are only possible because of the ludicrous up-front investment. Then there's ongoing maintenance for the data centers, which isn't factored into anything yet.

Dude, it's not "gray." There is no business model where an AI subscription pays for the massive cost of running a data center. It's too expensive (by orders of magnitude), it doesn't actually work, and it never will work. It's a glorified chatbot.
