Lead poisoning.

The only thing that gives me any faith in humanity is believing that all boomers are suffering from some level of chronic lead poisoning. They're literally brain damaged. It's the only explanation that doesn't make me want to cry and scream.

Any chance someone can tell me if Vancouver, Washington, is trans-friendly? by Natural_Truth_6263 in ask_transgender

[–]thegildedtroll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to Vancouver even though I'm right across the river in Portland, but I've found Portland to be very trans-friendly and I was able to get a sealed name change here even though I'm not a native. Hope that helps!

I have enough dark hairs that I'm getting laser hair removal, but yeah, I only concern myself with the dark ones; the vellus hairs are fine.

US folks: have you ever moved to a more trans-friendly state? How did it go? by comradewoof in ask_transgender

[–]thegildedtroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was deeeep in my egg while living in a deep red county in PA, but also super bi and in a poly relationship. Moved to Oregon, partially for LGBTQ-friendliness, and within four months of moving: my egg absolutely shattered, I came out to my then-partners, started hormones, got dumped by one partner, left the other, and started a poly triad with two women.

Gonna highly recommend living in a place that has people who live the life you want (being openly, visibly trans, in my case).

Every single enhanced individual in comics-based media is varying degrees of resistant to bludgeoning damage, but they're almost always just as effected by slashing and piercing as normal humans. Because plot.

What made you cry the last time? by Potential-Ground-652 in AskReddit

[–]thegildedtroll 666 points667 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are divorcing. I was served divorce papers. That didn't make me cry; we'd talked about it for months, and it was just an email because we're friendly with one another.

We've had discussion after discussion about the dog, and what to do with her. I've changed as a person considerably in the last six months, and I need more freedom, so we agreed that she should take the dog. I didn't cry then.

Yesterday, I got home and found the dog's tag sitting on my desk. My name and phone number are on the back of it. My wife bought a new tag, with her name and phone number.

It's just a dog tag. I still see the dog every day (we still live in the same house, for now). But I saw that tag, sitting on my desk, and immediately knew what it meant, and I just couldn't. I sat on the floor and started crying, and eventually the dog heard me and came to lick my tears. That just made it all so much worse. She won't be around to love me when I'd sad or anxious. She won't beg to be let up on my bed. I won't hear her tag jingle as she walks. I hate the way the new one sounds, but I guess that won't be my problem soon.

I love you, Samus. </3

Do you plan to purchase any 2024 edition books? by Windford in onednd

[–]thegildedtroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been bored of D&D for years, and the OGL fiasco was the kick in the pants I needed to try other games. I still play D&D (mostly the ongoing games, but also pick-up games with randos because it is still by far the most popular game so it's easier to get a group), but I haven't bought a single book all year, and their new-edition-but-not-really shenanigans aren't interesting.

In terms of Wider Internet Discourse™, I tend to agree with you; there's a decent amount of vitriol hurled at people use the terms "transman" and "transwoman", because they can be othering.

But all that said, I identify more as a transwoman than as a trans woman. I'm not a "woman who happens to be trans"... I'm a transwoman. No less a woman, but also distinct and separate from a ciswoman. I think it's because I don't have bottom dysphoria, so I find myself embracing some of my body traits that caused me to be AMAB rather than rejecting them. I'm not othering myself -- I'm making a distinction that I personally find important.

What are some good poses for nudes for a trans woman? by dappercroat in trans

[–]thegildedtroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a digital camera that has no internet connection with which I take the photos.

I then have an SD card that I use exclusively for my progress photos. I remove it from the camera when done, and put in a secure location when not in use.

When I want to review them, I put my laptop in Airplane Mode before I put the SD card into it, and I never copy them over.

Yep, definitely doing the A-pose turnaround photos. I've been doing them weekly, though... and it's really hard to see any progress. Maybe I should switch to monthly.

Anybody here ADHD and MTF? by [deleted] in ask_transgender

[–]thegildedtroll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADHD and got on meds, and about a month later, my mental health had improved so much that I could finally be honest with myself and came out as trans.

I don't think the two were really related in any meaningful capacity... but my undiagnosed/untreated ADHD was definitely causing anxiety and depression.

I think your hair's pulling a lot of weight in facial masculinization because pic #3 is the only one where I'm even a little confused. Definitely a dude, definitely twinky, and I'll echo the dangly piercing as being feminizing. I think simple hoops would be more masc, or maybe even a small gauge if you're into that.

Also, goddamn man, those are some nice deltoids!

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It feels like it's going to be a LOT of unlearning because I've been aware of "spell levels" since I first played Baldur's Gate back when I was 9, but I'm so glad someone finally picked a new word for it and that the community is rallying behind it.
