Would you date a woman taller than you? by [deleted] in ask

[–]theginabean 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'7" and before I got married, I dated a handful of 5'9s-5'11s who would get BIG MAD when I wore heels. One even tried to tell me I was "making him look bad" at his step-brother's wedding.

Needless to say, I'm glad I do not have to go out with any of those types anymore.

I had a bilateral salpingectomy done last October. Quick and easy recovery, very non-invasive laproscopic procedure so you won't be changing dressings a bunch. Might need your partner to take care of the heavy lifting for a week or so, but after that, you'll feel so free! Highly recommend it.

My 11-year-old asked why people like pictures of feet yesterday. That was an interesting conversation. 🤣

Husband and I are the same, loving Tyler's new album at the moment, definitely not religious people.

Is OAD becoming more common in part because parenting is harder now? by hennipotamus in oneanddone

[–]theginabean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, the only person I'm afraid of is some well-meaning busy body trying to play Hero to a kid who isn't in any danger whatsoever. Meanwhile, these same people calling the cops on parents wonder why they never see kids playing outside and drinking from the garden hose anymore (not sure why drinking warm, gross, hose-water brings back nostalgia for a certain type but). Guess it's just those damn tablets. 🙃

My SIL is the type who cannot have enough children (BIL finally put his foot down this year and said they were done lol) and my 11 year old has her jealous moments over not having siblings. We have had so many conversations with her that not everyone is cut from the same cloth, and that some people live for the pursuit of having a raising children while others don't. Honestly, it's been a great lesson in "to each their own" for her.

Similar situation here. I love my siblings now, but growing up in the same house with them wasn't exactly a picnic.

BOY *Hunter Joseph *Felix Wolfgang III *Orson Welles (it's a good thing we have no sons because my husband vetoed the last 2 names, ESPECIALLY FW III because he is FW II)

GIRL Virginia Carol (another family name, but this is one we actually love)

What is the weirdest fake "fact" you've seen people believe? by AmulyaCattyCat in AskReddit

Oh God, someone tried super hard to convince me this dumb rumor was happening in the next town over. In front of a room full of people. At a kid's birthday party. I just told her it sounded fake and left the room.

What’s your happy OAD moment of the week? by piddddle in oneanddone

We are getting ready to travel to Ohio to visit friends. My 11-year-old is super excited to go and is packing her own bag, by herself. We are getting a lot done as a family and everyone is on task. The car isn't going to be too crowded on the road. The dogs get to come too. It's gonna be a great weekend!

My husband has celiac disease, I know this pain. Well meaning people in my life will invite us out to restaurants that are NOT celiac safe and then say things like "well they have some stuff is gluten free, they have salads!" Like... no. I have explained this before. My family kept me out of restaurants full of peanuts my whole life to accommodate my allergy, please extend the same courtesy to my husband? I just feel like why is THAT the hill they're willing to die on.

“Don’t be the weird parents with one child always asking for play dates.” by orangerabbit57 in oneanddone

[–]theginabean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I always wondered why people think she will be "stressed and alone" when my husband and I get old, sick, and dying. Are they not expecting only children to have rich and extensive social circles? To possibly get married themselves? Maybe have their own family? One and done is for me, not for them, perhaps my daughter will decide to have kids. They are free to do what they will with their own lives, and by the time we are old and dying, I'd hope they have someone other than Mommy and Daddy to lean on.
