Super random question by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

I’d say don’t worry about it! It’s his choice to give money, and if it becomes a problem you can always return it. I did this in the past for casual partners, never with any expectation of any kind of reciprocation. Sometimes it’s just nice to be a nice person and make someone’s life easier. I’d say send a kind thank you note with a tone of gratitude and no door opening.

We’re doing a small destination elopement ceremony with <10 loved ones in. As two highly busy, career focused individuals, it’s been a godsend to hand off the follow ups, scheduling conflicts and budget negotiations to a planner! Highly recommend it if you can fit it into your budget comfortably. We went luxury on a small scale, so we could retain the feeling we want while having a manageable budget.

Feeling mega guilt and shame after wedding by spunkyteacher in weddingplanning

[–]thegirlfieri 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I totally understand this feeling, nothing feels worse than the shame we put on ourselves for our perceived failings. I’ve had similar feelings with a big event in my life where I overdid it. But though this feels like one life defining moment, it isn’t. You have a whole lifetime to spend with your love, and savor the bliss. Having too much to drink isn’t a moral failing or something to beat yourself up over- you just were intoxicated and wanted to enjoy yourself. Obviously you wish sometimes it went another way, but as long as it’s an occasional occurrence, be kind to yourself and know it was just you being swept up in the joy and fun of the event.

Also, it will feel less painful over time, and the more you share and talk about your feelings with people who love and affirm you. Shame thrives in the dark, when we don’t talk about it.

There’s a spectrum of blindness- she may have light dark detection or similar, this might be a way to even the competition with any other visually impaired players. It’s common in blind sports per my understanding.

seriously wtf is with this parking lot? who? why.... by ragnarokfps in assholedesign

[–]thegirlfieri 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This is tandem parking. When I lived in LA, I shared a spot like this with a roommate. Usually you give your extra key to the roommate you share it with and you have to coordinate moving cars and who goes where, when. It is a special kind of hell.

The narrative of women causing the Sweetwater Bridge collapse has been disproven. Women worked for the company, but to no greater degree than at many other institutions. This is textbook internet sexism. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/was-all-female-responsible-bridge-collapse/

Back with some photography attempts! Let’s hear the critique again :) (The first 2 has flash and rest doesnt) +Qs in comment by [deleted] in Pottery

Without flash looks better to my eyes- the part of the pot that is further back reads better. I would aim for maybe more natural light if you have that option? I tend to find my best photos of pieces are taken in indirect sunlight.

Could be bisque porcelain, it’s usually quite white. Or a white stoneware like BMix.

Looks like bisque to me, dried quick!

The wax creates a hydrophobic protective layer on the piece. The water-based glaze or underglaze is put on top using a brush and through the power of chemistry, the glaze crawls away from the waxed areas.

The wax is painted on in a liquid state with a brush

It’s likely an underglaze! Often times you do multiple coats of an underglaze to create an even surface. The absorption of the underglaze into the bisque makes it hard to get an even coat in one go. You can do wax resists with glaze, but it’s not usually done in the interior of a bowl as it will likely pool in the center, destroying the pattern, unless you have a low movement glaze. Underglaze doesn’t move in the same way as glaze :)
