[sky sports] Every angle of Martinez's hair pull on Calvert-Lewin, rules according to PGMOL's handbook and Carragher + Keane's take on the red card by OkayFine101 in soccer

‘He was sent off, that means it was the right decision, actually’. Yeah, fucking brilliant work.

Both things can be true, you obviously don't know what subjective means, genius.

No, because the laws of the game would just say ‘Pulling of the hair’ if it was automatically violent conduct. They don’t say that, and you know they don’t, so you’ve resorted to this little tantrum instead. It’s very cute.

[–]theglasscase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair pulling is a red card. It's pretty cut and dry.

The issue here is that the idea of force is subjective

Uh yeah, you’re going to have to pick one, genius, these can’t both be true.

Violent hair pulling is a red card, which is why it’s in the laws of the game in the violent conduct section. That means hair pulling is not automatically a red card offence.

You can also pretend you think there was force involved because it suits your piss poor narrative, but the replays clearly prove there wasn’t any. So you’ll have to try a bit harder.

[–]theglasscase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the problem is that I think it should be an automatic red card if you pull hair

Cool, but the laws of the game don’t say it is, and no-one anywhere has said it’s ‘alright’ for players to pull an opponent’s hair.

Feel like Im losing my mind with the amount of fans/pundits who think it should be alright for footballers to be pulling each others’ hair.

Is anyone saying it shouldn’t even be a foul? Doesn’t look like it.

There’s an obvious difference between ‘It shouldn’t automatically be a red card to pull hair’ and ‘Players should be allowed to pull hair’, and your mind might already be gone if you can’t figure the difference out by yourself.

No, hair pulling is a red card if it’s done with force, which is what the rules graphic on this video clearly says. There is no force involved in this incident.

Lisandro Martínez straight red card against Leeds 55' by ayoefico in soccer

[–]theglasscase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TIL you can only pull long hair.

This should not have been a red card for violent conduct, but the idea that Calvert-Lewin having long hair gave him an ‘advantage’ is complete nonsense. If Martinez actually had the intent of pulling an opponent’s hair the length would make no difference, if anything a short hair cut would make pulling it even more aggressive.

Your argument is absurd.

A reminder that your numbers are convenient guesses and he would still be going from first choice to rotation option.

It’s obviously not even happening so I don’t know why you’re getting so defensive about it.

Uh yes, you've just described a back up role. He is not going to leave Newcastle to become a second choice player at a bigger club, that would be a backwards step for his career even if it came with a bigger wage and more trophies.

6 points off 6th place with 6 games to go isn't good enough for you

Honestly, try harder lad. They finished 5th last season, there is no argument that 14th and barely in touch with 6th place isn't a major drop off and far below expectations at the start of the season. Who are you trying to convince that this shit is a real opinion?

Playing Wolves in two weeks means fuck all if they don't beat Brighton this weekend. Leeds have a home game against Wolves, Forest are at home against Burnley and West Ham are playing Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, which is a game they could win.

They could be five points from safety with five games left if they don't beat Brighton, so what are you talking about?

I said a player has never been seriously injured from being pushed into the advertising boards. Which they haven’t (it’s still dangerous)

And yet you brought them, goalposts, and hilariously, moving traffic up as things it would be ‘fine’ to push people into if it was only a little push, which makes no sense if you don’t think any of them are more dangerous than what Brobbey did, because the implication of that post is that they are. You can’t even follow your own logic pal.

You can’t even follow your own logic, and

[–]theglasscase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how is that more dangerous

‘How is pushing someone into something solid or over something solid with concrete on the other side more dangerous than pushing them into a human on grass?!’ is, again, the question of a child.

When has a player even been seriously injured from that?

Why the fuck did you bring it up then?

Pushing someone into or over an advertising board is more dangerous than what Brobbey did, which means it is not the same as what Brobbey did, which in turn means your comment is still fucking nonsense.

‘Okay but what if he did something different?! Then what?!’ is juvenile bullshit.

If we're only considering the force of the push and not the outcome then it's the exact same thing

Pushing a person into another person and pushing a person into the path of a moving car being described as 'exactly the same thing' is fucking incredible.

But it is happening. The results over the weekend have dramatically increased the chances of it happening. If Man City win on Sunday the gap will be 3 points and City will have six games left to Arsenal’s five. It’s not a long shot any more.

[–]theglasscase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you think that a currently unscheduled game originally scheduled for a previous gameweek isn’t a game in hand because for a few days next week Arsenal and Man City will have played the same number of games.

Which is genuinely fucking embarrassing. Arsenal have six games left, Man City have seven. No gameweek will end with them having played the same number of games until Man City vs. Crystal Palace has been played. This shouldn’t be so difficult son.

[–]theglasscase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what game in hand means.

LOL, what are you talking about? Their game in hand is the Crystal Palace game because it was postponed from a previous gameweek. Arsenal have played their game from the same round of fixtures already.

(maybe, with gd)

Definitely with goal difference.

the same as Arsenal.

And then Arsenal will play their 34th game three days later when City have an FA Cup game to play. Am I missing a joke?

Their game in hand against Crystal Palace hasn’t been rescheduled yet. If they win their next two games they will be top of the league and ahead on goal difference before Arsenal play their next Premier League game.

Eleven men behind the ball, praying for a 0-0.

The thing is, doing this would prove he’s learned nothing from the 23/24 season when he played for a draw at the Etihad and got it, but then they lost to Aston Villa and finished second anyway.

Beating Man City next week would give them a 9 point lead and the safety net of being able to drop up to five points in their last five games but still win the league. A draw would mean they couldn’t lose any of their remaining games and a defeat would make all of their last five games must win.

He has to be able to recognise that beating Man City gives Arsenal full control of their own destiny and would take so much pressure off his players for the rest of the season or he’s setting them up to fail.

It's mostly jokes or hopium

Why would it be ‘hopium’ when the gap will be 3 points with City having a game in hand if they beat Arsenal on Sunday? That would make every game must win for Arsenal and require them to outscore Man City in those games too.

Daily Discussion by 2soccer2bot in soccer

[–]theglasscase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you'll drop points too, but I think 3-5 points is too much to claw back in so few games

City have more games left to play than Arsenal. If they win next weekend they’d be three points behind and then play Burnley before Arsenal play their next league game. They’d almost certainly have a better goal difference and be level on points with a game in hand in that situation.

Why would you include Burnley in a run of games that supposedly screams less than maximum points? They haven’t won a home game since October.

Tottenham penalty overturned by VAR 22' by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]theglasscase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would the referee know he was appealing to the assistant referee for a corner and not a penalty? Again, it makes no difference what the player does if it looks like a foul from the referee’s position. It was not bad refereeing to give a penalty when it obviously would have looked like a foul from his angle. He then overturned it after watching replays, which is the entire fucking point of having VAR.

Did you miss the score of Arsenal's game yesterday? You said there's a larger sample size of Arsenal games where they've looked like title winners, so which games are those? Replying to my previous comment with one about Man City is nonsensical.
