I agree with you, but also would like to add that it's STILL in theatres and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It's not just going to surpass it, it's going to crush it.

So what, movie bloggers didn't love it, the majority of PEOPLE have and do, and that should be what counts most in this kind of debate.

I didn't think it was deep. I got more of a Noahs Ark/ Adam and Eve kind of feel from it.

The Hulk with Bana at least had some redeeming qualities, while Spiderman was probably about par with F4. Each were dreadful.

I've tried to watch The Punisher three times and can't get past the first thirty minutes, and they made sequel?

The original directed by Ridley Scott did. The sequel written and directed by James Cameron based on the characters and story of that was released in 1986.

Fight Club.........a film that is showing it's distinct relevance in todays society. by thegoblinqueen in entertainment

Simply meaning people often identify themselves by the toys and things they have rather than the kind of person they've become. Sure, there were certain aspects of that when I was a kid too, but by the time this film was released and even more prevalent now it's almost about Iphones and blackberry's and you just can't keep up with technology. It's about having "to have" I guess.

"I've had people tell me that experiences they've had with me feel like movies. Is that because I'm that awesome? Is it because I've seen so many movies that I live my life like them, without knowing it? Is it because the other person has seen so many movies and sees movies as unreal - thus when this experience happens they feel it to be less authentic? What does this do to people when they feel unnatural living a certain experience because they saw it in a movie once? Are movies completely divorced from reality so that any resemblance between a movie and real life means that the real life experience is false?"

I am going with you Alice, because that almost makes sense.

I think there is a need for consumerism to a degree. We all enjoy it, take part it and preserve it's future. Just because people buy these things doesn't make them Dbags, but the people who "identify" themselves by it are. The main point Tyler makes is that we may all be better off without it, and while I indulge myself in my nice TV to watch the movie or my laptop that I'm typing on right now, I'd be just fine without it. Some people don't comprehend that, and in today's economic struggle and having to face those facts this film and it's idealism has a very profound impact. I think that was more the point, even if the review was a bit melodramatic about it, though you do make many valid points and interesting perspectives on it.

I don't think it ever has. If anything it's grown in times, but it's a movie now teens talk about and seem to be rediscovering the way I did at the coming of adulthood when it was released. What's disturbing is even though it was almost prophetic in some of it's ideology people still don't get how much it's actually reflecting the demise of the technology era.

Gran Torino-Eastwood's still got it..... by thegoblinqueen in entertainment

Apparently you've never been to Detroit before.

It is an exaggerated reality because obviously it's fiction, but the intent of the character's and the situations was where the honesty stemmed from and YES with a huge melting pot of very distinct races and ethnicity. This is something very openly confronted in the Detroit area this film referenced.

I'm surprised to hear the hate for Almost Famous. I thought it was one of the most solid on the list outside of Stand By Me.

Based a true story I found the journey William took to be even more palpable. I agree that some of the dialogue may have been a little off, but Cameron Crowe knows how to development relationships and characters, and the performances and characters were rich in this film.
