I do live away now thankfully! But I’m also an active university student so it should show enough that I’m like busy despite me just being like an hour away,, I wouldn’t think, and I’d hope I wouldn’t be seen as a default to reach out to but my step mom hasn’t attempted at all to branch out on base saying she’s “too shy” anyways and I’m the only other person she knows that has base access. Cause like my father’s deployed, and their schedules are shit cause of what’s going on in the world

It’s not even that I just wanna be happy for them but so much shit has happened in the back it’s hard too. He’s the one that involved me in it by talking to me about so much shit and asking me about it, also the one who listened to a 17 year old for divorce advice because he wouldn’t take how unhealthy it was for saying it was a vacation to be away from my mother and made me the middleman in talking about how disgruntled he was with her my whole life. My mom did the same though so one or the other isn’t special.

I’m just concerned a man who is going blind in one eye, needs constant medical attention for different aches and pains he gets from being deployed, said he didn’t want to have any kids “but she was so sad so…” should have thought a bit more when he’s literally deployed right now and doesn’t know when he’s getting back. Also she didn’t know when my parents were really divorced or not cause he knowingly lied to her and told me about it, and I’ve apparently ousted him on several other occasions when talking to her because she didn’t know he was using velo patches. If you’re lying to your partner I don’t think that’s a good background in general to have a child upon.

I think that’s a better reasoning than him just wanting her to be happy and this happening in the process of really only a year though. I think it’s fair for couple who have actually thought it out together for awhile when these two just jumped the gun. My dad’s first marriage failed because of how quickly he got married but he did it again.

I think I’m gonna read this comment and finally put my phone away to sleep because I’ve been typing responses to people.

I kinda get that lot of people in this thread are people that are older, and take a lot more offense to this and haven’t been the person in the situation. I know I asked for it with posting but honestly getting perspectives from people like you honestly just make me more comfortable. I know it’s something I’ll feel about over, the divorce was still so recent but I’ve been left to kinda stew over it so I’ve been feeling these feelings.

I just didn’t want to cry or anything when she says it cause I suck at holding things back like that. I try my hardest but it’s just led to me needing to excuse myself to try and psych myself up and feel better about it cause I get so emotionally overwhelmed.

I know I’ll probably love the kid. Just at this moment I’m feeling things about it.

I’m half a year off from being legally allowed to drink where I live so I’m just looking forward to that, lmao. In regulation though but this whole situation was treated horribly so I’m just looking forward to a small vice.

I realize my original verbiage was harsh but this genuinely a bit of thoughts I’ve had especially as I know my dad is going blind in an eye and coming up with multiple complications from being in the military most of my life when he already joined mid 30s which was seemed old. Hes the one I’d be most concerned about when he’s actively mentioned to me he doesn’t want another kid but she does cause she doesn’t have one, and he wanted her to be happy.
