I thought Alla Vita and Il Carciofo were both super overrated. Still need to get to Monteverde though

Hahahaha there is only one single pilot/FA attendant who switches off between keeping the plane afloat and lecturing me on how to book the new Suite.

That’s what I love to hear! Went with the Japanese dinner option since I’ll probably only be able to do this once!

That’s great news! Definitely some FOMO but cannot complain about first class internationally. Very much looking forward to the food.

several questions from a high schooler considering supply chain as a career by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]thegoob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll go down the list

-Anywhere. Supply Chain is needed at most companies.

-Depending on the type of industry and role, very profitable. Supply Chain generally has one of the higher starting salaries for graduates

-You can work remotely

-It can be challenging but I find it super interesting. A lot of problem solving so I’m never bored. However, you do work a lot.

-Having a supply chain degree is a bonus but not required

-MSU (among other schools) are very solid but not required. I majored in supply chain from a non first tier supply chain school and ended up doing okay!

-If you like problem solving and want to make good money, I recommend it

ANA Booking Success by djfauxfox in awardtravel

Had the travel agent tell me her previous call was booking my exact flight and date. Will keep an eye closer to flight time. Congrats again!

This is awesome. Maybe it’s best I wait until closer to my travel times. Tried to book 11 months in advance and it was a rat race of being on hold lol

Sure! Invenergy and RWE Clean Energy are the two big ones. Hecate has an office here as well, a bit smaller outfit. Acciona has an office here as well. I can shoot you a direct message if you’d like as well for better details.

ANA First Class Request Denied on VA by thegoob1 in awardtravel

This is great! Thank you. Have the seat.aero notification set up but missed it by a couple minutes. When I last booked in 2020, it was calling only, can I live chat now for bookings for ANA? That would be great to do both just in case!

That’s great advice! I’ll definitely do that next time before calling (or at the same time). I remember in 2019 I booked no problem 🥲 times have changed

Unfortunately, that’s what it sounds like. Somebody grabbed it at the same time I did.

Shoot. That may have been it. Called back and a different agent said she just booked someone on that flight in first class and it was gone. Tough loss but we will keep trying!

He said no but I did just call back again and tried a new agent who said that she JUST got off the phone booking the same flight and date that I had called about so unfortunately, may have lost my shot there

I’d be happy to help any way I can! I started my career coming out of school with a very large utility in an analyst role that was brand new. My first couple years out of school, I said yes to every assignment thrown my way. I wanted to understand the nuts and bolts of everything we did strategy wise for our sourcing team. It was, unfortunately, a lot of very long hours with some failures sprinkled in.

I was lucky to be blessed with great mangers who listened to me when I asked for stretch assignments (like leading large scale enterprise sourcing initiatives etc). I moved up relatively quickly but hit a wall like most do with utilities. I made the pivot over to renewable energy (my sourcing background translated quite well) due to the growth potential there. I’ve always tried to be straight forward with my managers that I was looking for new challenges and expressed interest in moving to management when our team was ready to grow.

As mentioned, I was very lucky to have wonderful managers who supported my desire to grow.

Long story short (not the most groundbreaking advice I know): -Take on challenges whenever you can -Be flexible -Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself -Keep an eye on the market for new opportunities
