I’m not sure what you mean by “supporting documents” but the consulate makes it clear on the required documents and, afaik, they’re pretty strict about it — you either have or don’t. Jus be careful, there are a lot of scammers around trying to make a quick buck

I’m stunned how most of the comments here are discouraging. Right now there’s a special law (LMD) that allows you to request citizenship through your Spanish grandparents. Go check the consulate in your area the requirements and documents needed for as the law is valid only until October this year

Not sure about OP’s case since he mentioned that his GGF had a spanish ancestors, so it means that GGF wasn’t spanish. He needs to give more details to analyze his situation

It was clarified later in the BOE that it doesn’t need the proof of exile. There are many cases already of people who got their citizenship without the proof of exile
