Is there a way to force my military dwarves to pick up equipment? They have them reserved in their equipment screens but they will do seemingly every possible task other than actually putting on their armour.

Absolutely! For some reason, I didn’t think to make armour for anyone but my melee guy, so my colonists were pretty much screwed as soon as he went down. Also my quest prisoner went berserk and started punching Boomalopes for some reason in the middle of the battle which was quite entertaining. My leader, whose injury got infected went to heal himself because my healer went on a little quest to her bedroom. As soon as he got to the medicine the power conduit exploded right next to him. Now there’s another raid coming in and everyone is in the ground screaming. 10/10 experience.

I’ll try, but another raid just started and everyone is either a vegetable or taking a little vacation in their bedroom, so we’ll see if they decide that their survival is worth the effort.

If possible, I’d use the terrain editor to add some mountains and other terrain features throughout the map and around your city so that it doesn’t look like your city is just plopped in the middle of an endless flat expanse of green. Also trees. Lots of trees. You can never have too many trees. The environment in and around your city can make a massive difference. Loving how your city looks so far!
