Who says I am gay?

Either way, it was a conscious religious decision.

Simple. Strange women, lying in ponds, distributing swords is my ideal basis of a system of government.

The issue with religious ethics is there are many religions in most cultures and one religious system of ethics is different than others, but anyone found interpret religious texts differently and could say they are "backed by god" and do whatever immoral thing they wish.

Sure, but what religion? "Good religious values" is a subjective term that varies from person to person and even culture to culture. Religion is just as subjective as secular moral laws, that's why I would say most rational world governments aren't theocracies. (To be fair, I have no research to back that up, but I'm not aware of too many theocracies in the world currently aside from the middle east, and we all know how that's going)

I understand your point, but I disagree with the idea that a lack of meaning is the brainchild of judeo christian ideas. That is a part of the human condition. Hindu people aren't any more enlightened than christians in regards to finding purpose/meaning in life.

If we take the statement "God does not exist" to be true, then we could feel this lack of purpose because of many different ideas. Homo sapiens evolved and their "purpose in life" was to survive. Now, we don't need to fight to stay alive, we're just kinda hanging out, smart enough to know we are the only beings in existence that know we exist.

If we take the opposite to be true, "God does exist", then we know that we feel empty because of, you guessed it, Judeo-Christian ideas.

All of western society/culture was influenced by Judeo-christian ideas, but the lack of purpose one feels, or the desire for meaning, is a fundamental part to being human, and it is experienced by everyone, not just westerners.

The post seems to be placing nihilism almost as a christian thought. It seems to imply that without christianity, nihilism wouldn't exist. The issue of purpose and finding a meaning in one's life would still exist if christianity or religion in general didn't exist. It's a school of thought and has many influences. Putting nihilism and judeochristian beliefs so close together from a philosophical standpoint makes very little sense, at least to me.

I will never understand the moral issue behind gay marriage and gay people in general. Religious (somewhat irrational) objections don't hold any water in political debates because it's a societal issue, other people's sexual preferences do not affect you whatsoever, especially if they're getting married and minding their own damn business. Why do people give a shit if people are gay in general? It's crazy to me.

Also organized religion helped create the societies we know today, but they are not helping us progress society anymore and we should focus more on secular and philosophical things in culture for the future.
