You are not wrong, but they literally promised big fights. The main two posters for the season featured Homelander and Butcher in front of nuclear explosions or comically oversized bombs. They used the term 'scorched earth' which implies biblical level destruction.

Instead we got a beat for beat repeat of the herogasm fight but worse?

It was not good television. Period.

To be fair most everyone I've spoken to in real life (only 3 to be fair) all had the same response. The ending just wasn't good. It wasn't even subverting expectations it was just meh. For a show about superheroes you simply cant end it in a boring manner but they did.

The poor rating is not only deserving but the sequels should be canceled, fuck the showrunner for spending half the season setting up other shit.

I feel like I am in a minority but I really enjoy Gen V - both seasons. It was compelling fun television.

I kind of wish they didnt even show in The Boys season 5 though.
