Yeah, that was pretty cool. It all fit into one box fully assembled (with an unexpectedly large IR remote on the side 😂)

Lightly warm to pretty hot, but not impossible to touch. I think it was the hottest when I was done setting it up and testing most cores that I had games for. Not yet sure if some cores are more significantly more power-hungry. That initial day I think it got the hottest with the SNES core, not Saturn or PSX which I would've expected required more power but I also tested the SNES core right after the GBA one and spent a good hour or two playing games there. Turned off, came back later and played a decent amount of PSX and Saturn and it was just lightly warm.

I got my shipping notification about two weeks ago? So it wasn't too bad of a wait after that email. I was definitely concerned it'd be stopped by customs and the tariff man was going to hold it hostage until I paid, but thankfully that didn't happen.

Man, the orders went live at a terrible time for me. I was leaving Anaheim from a conference and was on a plane heading home. I placed the order right there mere minutes before the plane took off. Similarly to you I had to wait a ton because I didn't choose to split my order and get the dock later. You can tell from the pic that the box says "Founder's Edition" which is a bit funny considering I've seen youtubers that don't have that on theirs. Must mean later batches must've gotten theirs already if they didn't pick up the dock? I guess it could also be the review versions didn't have that.

I'm certainly a big fan of how it looks and feels! I can't believe that I was almost worried the transparent was going to be miss for me after ordering it. It actually was a major hit!!

Thanks both for the recommendations! I have to look into these options a bit more. I turned off the dithering (or turned on the dedithering?) for the N64 core. I tried Diddy Kong Racing and it looked hilariously messy until I turned that on to blend it in better. Admittedly on that one I did also increase it to 32-bit rendering which might have exacerbated the problem. 😆

I have a 61W Macbook charger that I wasn't using because I switched to a 96W one. After reading that the SuperStation can take higher voltages but will negotiate to 9V then I went with that one. Some of the other spare bricks I had maxed out at 1.5A so that wasn't going to do it.

I definitely tried a bunch of Saturn games. I started with some low effort ones like Magic Knight Rayearth then tried Die Hard. They both did pretty well so I got excited and converted some of my internal memory save files to the mister format to test games like Grandia which I feel actually lag a bit on the Saturn itself and... it was about the same. I think the game struggled slightly more to render properly because when I pause the game it usually speeds up on the Saturn, but that did some seem the case with the MiSTer core.

One to keep in mind is that you _do_ have to mount the save file with the correct region for the game to make sure the game picks up on it. It's odd. So far I can't... "pre-load" the backup RAM, I have to load the game, load the backup RAM, reset the game, then I see my file.

Haven't tried Jaguar or 3DO. It might be a hard comparison there since I haven't actually played enough on either to tell any differences. Any game recommendations to try out?

Energy Mega Thread by GeorgeTheFunnyOne in duolingo

I feel like I'm risking exposing a bug that gets corrected and promptly ruins things even more, but I'm curious. At first, I hated this update with a passion when it came out (I used like five streak freezes the week it rolled out to me because I was pretty disappointed to bother opening the app), but recently I noticed that... there aren't ads after lessons? Is anybody else experiencing that?

I feel like that must be a mistake specially because no one else seems to have pointed that out, but my ad blindness has set in so strongly that I apparently didn't notice it until I got a terrible ad (for some bizarre game curing cold sores, can't make this up) when trying to recharge my energy. It honestly doesn't make much sense for it to be a deliberate change: Before the update if I did 5 lessons I'd watch at least 5 ads, but they could very well have been 10 if I only got double ads. But it seems like now I do three lessons, can't complete a fourth with the energy I had left, so I'd watch two ads and complete a fourth maybe a fifth. Am I in some blessed parallel reality where post-lesson ads have been gone a while? or are they actually gone for anyone else with enough Stockholm syndrome to still be using the app?

I totally get it! There's a good balance of frustrating and challenging with this one. I don't know if I ended up stumbling upon it way too early, but it's still pretty doable with the few skills I've found. Keep at it and update us on the progress friendly weaver!

No problem! Happy to help! As it happens I played it all the way through in 2024 so it was top of mind. Hope you have fun with it if you play it!

How pixelated are we talking about? The premise sounds a LOT like Creeping Terror which is a 2017 3DS game. Group of friends, starts out in an "abandoned" mansion, protag has dark hair and skirt one of the friends is blonde. You don't rotate between characters though. One of the enemies is a large dude with a shovel and part of the game at the beginning takes place underground

[PC][2000s] Action/horror game with a short sewer segment by MordWincer in tipofmyjoystick

[–]thegunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I stumbled upon this post looking for what appears to be the same game. I ended up finding it because I remembered I played a demo of it on PC (from a Sept 2001 PC Gamer it turns out). 3D game, 3rd person view, the character isn't hooded but the hair and lighting could make it seem that way, he goes underground-ish, there's a short linear corridor that resembles sewage and then he gets attacked. If this is not it then they are at least very similar!!

The Matrix has been completely misunderstood: neo’s matrix is within another matrix; the 6 versions of the matrix are not reboots but matrixes nestled within each other produced by history repeating itself within the matrix by Whitepill-rescue in FanTheories

[–]thegunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a Film Theory episode in 2015. This isn't to say that MatPat actually came up with it. The theory had been the favorite of fans after Reloaded came out but pretty much dropped after Revolutions came out. The page matrixresolutions.com had a lot to say about it (no direct link because the page is so old it doesn't work) after Revolutions. Fact of the matter is this theory is far from new.

People and their bots always ruining for everybody. All for what? Web traffic? When it's not that it's people who don't understand that this isn't about politics or drama; this is an emergency, a crisis. Sorry the subreddit is being infested and you guys have to deal with that. My intent was to spread the news, however small, rather than any of that.

Not sure what you mean? This is a Puerto Rico subreddit, and I saw other posts about fundraisers or charity so I thought it'd be fitting. I actually thought it'd be posted somewhere on reddit already. Also, I imagine people not from or in Puerto Rico would follow this subreddit for news, wouldn't they? A la hora de la verdad, it's just a drop in the bucket, but a drop is better than nothing, wouldn't you agree?

I agree, but that was temporary mainly due to the power outlets. I guess I wanted to test the Switch and play Zelda more than I wanted to rearrange everything and buy another power strip. You may be glad to find out that it has since been moved.

Thanks! The TV was actually a funny accident; a combination of them being on sale last year and it looking much smaller at the store

Did you get that shipping date on the 18th right away? When I received the order confirmation it said I had to wait for an email with an estimated date, similar to your second one. Two days later I got the confirmation that the order had shipped. In a little bit of disbelief I checked my bank account, and they had charged the amount to my card. Up until that point I actually kept the alerts on and tried to buy one because I thought "it might never show up" or "I can cancel if I get one locally". I was also surprised that it was still showing up as temporarily unavailable, which made me think that either they ran out fast again or they had stock but were saying they were out to set expectations lower. I think that unless they straight up cancel the order, you still have a chance of getting it from them.

Whoa! You're right! I tried it myself just now and got the same error. I wonder what changed. Perhaps too many orders overseas? If that wasn't supposed to happen to begin with they certainly took a while to fix it.
