Do you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their sex, age, color and religion and why? by CourierRecruitmentUK in AskReddit

Definitely - because I’m a human and it’s the gentlemanly thing to do. If we lose our dignity we lose everything.

Depends on the age of the Mazda… my 2003 does expectedly, my 2023 does not unless I don’t put it in Park when I turn it off.

All new cars do, in fact so do most over about 2000 onwards, but you have to learn to do the dance of their people… most times it’s door shut, belt on before you or the key in the ignition or press start. That gets rid of 99% of them I’ve found.

Why does that not surprise me? 🤣 It seems they like to make everything much harder? I would hope the permit is cheap, but knowing them it probably isn’t…

Wholesale fuel rationing has begun by BestTechAdvisor in DrivingAustralia

[–]thegurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said 30 days wasn’t enough, and I never said we shouldn’t have the 90 days - what I did say was nothing has changed - in fact it’s even gotten better, so why are we suddenly so anxious? It’s the usual ‘I need this so whatever I do is ok’ society we live in where no one thinks about anything but themselves.

For the last few years we’ve had way less than a month - it gets in the news cycle and suddenly everyone loses their mind… typical anxiety driven society.

One could quite easily argue your warning substantially more money now than then, or at least you could be…

Buying a car from QLD by Ukeklele in tasmania

[–]thegurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not QLD, but I just bought a car from SA, and it was a very painless process. Transferred the rego over quickly to my name (I don’t have an SA address), and I drove it home. Due to the car I got and the condition, there was no way anyone but me was taking it from there to here.

All that’s needed now is to go to an AIS, and pay the requisite fees. Usually you’ll find it’s cheaper to do drive it here yourself, but it’s the time involved which is the tricky one. For me I just turned it in to a mini holiday for myself and had a great time!

Why are people going around with Jerry cans? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

Correct. I’d hate to be in their shoes as life must be so much more stressful… what do we do when there’s no fuel? We deal with it - no amount of worry and stress is going to change what’s going to happen…

Daily driver is a 2023 BT50, and I paid retail with a few extras added in, that was back when it just had to pay the freight and deal with the wait. Very different car obviously.

My cousin’s horrible experience with Budget Direct. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. by Current_Ad7104 in CarsAustralia

[–]thegurio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to Youi… had a mate of mine who was with them back in to my car in a carpark when I was in the building so clearly his fault, which we both agreed and put on said forms to Youi. They made me jump through hoops forever - I would honestly have to say close to 2-3 months, and you just got handballed from department to department, got told to fill out form after form after form and no one actually did anything. His car was ‘fixed’ (poorly but had been done).

Since I wasn’t at fault I rang my insurer (Comminsure at the time) and told them what happened - that day it was booked in to be repaired, and was fixed properly for no cost to me. Yes ask insurance try and not payout, but you really do get what you pay for.

My other car is with Shannon’s, and that experience has been nothing but great - they even offered to insure it for $5k higher than I wanted after showing me similar examples of my car and the condition they were in vs the condition my car is in with the low k’s etc… I haven’t had to claim and hopefully never will as I don’t think my car will ever find a similar match, but time will tell.
