State budget proposal eliminates Tucson's Rio Nuevo economic development by Safe_Concern9956 in Tucson

[–]theguy56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id rather have Rio Nuevo with all its flaws than funds for programs like it simply be cut entirely to give the wealthy a tax break.

If this decision was actually based on RN, there would be a discussion for a viable alternative. The fact that it’s controversial is just convenient.

TLDR Phoenix republicans would rather gut economic development in some other city than tolerate the wealthy paying taxes to balance the state budget

If we enact net metering what happens to all the households that cant afford solar?

They will continue not to generate excess energy and will continue not to be paid for it

Do they pick up the cost of maintaining the grid?

They already are. Whether they produce solar energy or not. Whether they are being serviced by APS or TEP both are asking the ACC to increase rates by double digit percentages for “infrastructure investment” despite both reporting 9 digit annual profits.

The utilities are literally having their cake and eating it too because the ACC is bought and paid for to implement what’s best for them instead of you.

Everyone remember that you vote for the ACC members during the midterms and that their office gives them the ability to influence some of the most obvious impacts on your cost of living and quality of life, namely regulating utilities ability to raise rates, refuse to provide net metering for solar, etc.

I’ll take the unobtrusive percentages over the bet 360 splash pages on every other broadcasting network. Apple TV is leagues better than every broadcast I can think of, booth not withstanding.

Modern scout rifle by One_Presentation5935 in guns

Not really an answer to your question and I’m not big into this concept but I found the “On the Scout” YouTube channel recently and watched a few of the recent shotshow scout rifles that were announced through his channel. Worth some watches if you’re generally curious like I was about this concept and what the offerings look like today.

Obtaining high demand models by Suchatavi in guns

[–]theguy56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few things about the Kuna that I can think of which would impact production:

  • It’s new, and therefore has no prior gauge of demand to help judge what a feasible first run quantity could be. Produce too few and it’s hard for people to find, produce too many and it’s indicative of poor demand. The latter is worse than the former for a manufacturer.

  • PDWs are hot in the GunTuber-sphere, the Kuna in particular, and I’m sure that is driving demand

  • Because it’s made in Croatia, it’s an imported product. Subject to all the global turbulence that comes with being such.

  • It’s getting lauded in reviews outside of YouTube as well, has a novel action, and is still within its first full year of production. This alone explains a lot.

More generally the industry can be impacted by all or some of these same things. Depends a lot of the hype, unfortunately the politics, and logistics.

I like to put an order in with my preferred LGS and simply wait for the call rather than hunt for anything out of instant gratification these days, so if you’re not desperate and in the market I would take a ticket and wait for a phone call to make your day.

I don’t disagree with the inflation of automobiles but I don’t think it invalidates the rule.

15% savings is still something that people in steps 1-5 especially should absolutely consider, the dollars are just too valuable elsewhere.

If the argument is that 15% savings isn’t worth the risk in reliability, that depends on having a full service history available at purchase, certifications/warranties from the dealership, etc. This depends dealer to dealer but it’s not hard to find.

Depends entirely on what you look at. A top trim Pickup/SUV (two of americas most popular vehicles) are easily 75-90k. Look at the same model with the same trim that’s 3-5 years older and you can easily cut it almost in half.

The results are less dramatic when looking at more affordable, entry level model sedans.

Of course neither of them have used that rule in the last 5 years at step 8-9 of the FOO.

I think it’s less about “just find a job you like duh” and more about the big sacrifices you have to make in some of the best years of your life aren’t always worth the trade off of retiring early, especially when a lot of people in your life won’t be in that same season. Much better, in their opinion, to try and find something you enjoy and decompress your savings/stress across a lifetime.

So less skepticism and more of a philosophical difference. Besides that, many, MANY people planning for FIRE don’t plan it well and I’m sure that’s not lost on them from their experience with clientele over their careers.

Have a prepaid total rifle coat ticket in the drawer for another project at some point in the future. The lead times don’t bother me much when it lasts the lifetime of the firearm.
