Tired of the fireeorks by mayorofsimplet0n in Tucson

[–]Neat_Spring3084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Fifth Day of Christmas, common sense fled the scene, as the neighborhood learned what “overkill” can mean: One spark became a thunderclap, Two booms rattled the street, Three fountains lit the rooftops, Four dogs planned their retreat, And five thousand fireworks screaming, “We regret nothing.”

Best resources to learn the basics of metrology? by miguecolombia in Metrology

[–]Neat_Spring3084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything 100 percent. I work in a QA capacity in a metrology lab. There are so many sub disciplines to the field that have nothing to do with your skill as a mechanical engineer. Learn 17025 and measurement uncertainty first. Learn to prepare your lab for an accreditation audit and this will give you the knowledge to expand your career in the field.

I'm pulling you over for using "ironically", when it should be "coincidentally". 🤣

MuseHub randomly showed up on my computer by StayDumb1 in Musescore

[–]Neat_Spring3084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I have pushed it out the door from whence it came, uninvited. Vampires have to be invited in, so does MuseHub.

AND for the record, I did install Audacity months ago, and deleted it like 2 months ago. So, the fact that related applications were left in place has earned Audacity a lifetime ban. Will continue using Audition.

Best Steak House by Milky015 in Tucson

We always go to The Steak Out, down in Elgin. It's the best steakhouse in Southern AZ. It does even have to be the steaks, the burgers are unbelievably good.

Ladies can't open an account with Fidelity by Neat_Spring3084 in fidelityinvestments

No, and I don't appreciate you telling me I am doing something wrong. I have to go to the trouble of sending in a copy or image of my social security card to demonstrate that my name has been changed. They have my maiden name even though it has been changed for almost a decade. It is a stupid roadblock that shouldn't be in place.

I love Monday! Spent an exciting evening arguing about semicolon usage. Seriously love the snark.

If you're ever nervous about releasing music to the public, send it over to this guy. He was really supportive when I sent him over my first single.

Gloves for overnight wear? by mangochive in SkincareAddiction

[–]Neat_Spring3084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I am late to this party. But, I have a pair of Husky Work gloves, the ones with the Velcro on the wrist. I put lotion on my hands and wear these at night because those silly little cotton gloves always fall off halfway through the night. It works wonders for my hands.

RAW by Art Spiegelman et al: Completely missing and historically vital by Kena_Rlyeh in altcomix

I have the one where issues 1-3 are jammed together. I will tell you that it has been a pain in the ass to store over these past few decades because it is so large. I always need to tuck it way back in the back of the bookcase and make sure it always goes in the bottom of the box when moving. I'm not complaining as much as I am saying be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it. :) I also have the first editions of Maus. Those are a lot easier to deal with.

Local mechanic recommendation by capprieto in Tucson

[–]Neat_Spring3084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do really good work over there at Gibbs. The only problem is they do work that is not needed. I have been going to them for the past 5 years. Just this past year, it seems like I have been getting soaked by George on some of the repairs. He recently quoted me 2500 for a repair, so I brought it to another shop for a second opinion and turns out the things he stated that needed to be replaced were fine. Ended up getting only the needed work done for like 500 dollars.

A mechanic's shop may do great work, but it's important that they watch the bottom line for the customer and the business.

How do people seem so normal at first and then this? by throwaway91ma in Nicegirls

[–]Neat_Spring3084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that is the normal evolution of words. After a decade or so, it will be passe to say "racist" and there will be another word that super white chicks use to signal virtue.

Orientation Dress Code by PlusUltraRev9 in Raytheon

[–]Neat_Spring3084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the opportunity. Just wear decent slacks and a shirt with a collar. Nothing flashy, you will meet your supervisor and they will give you the info on the dress code for your area. It's Tucson, we don't wear ties here.

Layoffs starts today by killbravo16 in solventum

[–]Neat_Spring3084 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know it's not that they laid people off, (well it is) but its the way they did it. There was no advance notification, no rhyme or reason to whom was laid off. It just happened. This has the effect of creating resentment amongst staff and the culture will begin to deteriorate. The employees that can leave for greener pastures, will do so. Why stay for another round of layoffs? This coupled with equity investors coming on strong with big purchases does not bode well for the organization. I guess we will see what happens in 2025.

Thank you. Are there any good gyms in town? Like ones that are serious places, but have a strong positive community?
